The best Spurs team in over 50 years vs one of the weakest top flight sides we have ever had.
I fear the ground could be half empty after 80 mins.

That is optimistic. Could be half empty at about 55 minsWestbourne Bill wrote:The best Spurs team in over 50 years vs one of the weakest top flight sides we have ever had.

Sets it up nicely on Friday. Nothing for us to lose and it will be class to be the team that stops their title challenge. A draw or win for us and they are out of the race because Chelsea aren't going to slip up that many points. Would be nice to give them a load of **** on Friday night although I accept it's very unlikely we'll beat them.

When we played these last year, Slav had Poccertino in his pocket with the way he set our side up. Tottenham haven't actually changed how they play at all from last year. They seem to always look for that long diagonal ball and exploit you down the wings through Son,Walker,Rose,Trippier etc. But that won't happen to us because we went out in the transfer window and bought a decent RB so we won't expect any trouble there.

Re: West Ham Utd vs Tottenham: match thread
start carroll and we lose (especially if we're having another midfielder push up to fish for knockdowns), simple as that.
slav has to make the hard decision to play the worse player for the good of the system that has been working for us these past couple of weeks. they don't need to be a goal machine, they just need to keep running and running and running, keeping defenders honest and giving our midfield pockets to pick the ball up.

I'd really like to see Carroll and Sakho both playing up top, injury permitting of course.

which means bypassing our midfield, our strongest asset.Colours never run wrote:I'd really like to see Carroll and Sakho both playing up top, injury permitting of course.

Not for me. It would still involve plenty of midfield, but it would also give us another dimension going over the top either holding it up or running in to the channels.

If both were 100% fit and in the right frame of mind(Sakho) then I'd see these 2 being a pretty effective strike force!Colours never run wrote:I'd really like to see Carroll and Sakho both playing up top, injury permitting of course.

Re: West Ham Utd vs Tottenham: match thread
It all hinges on their fitness, I trust both their state of minds to be on it for this one. But they can always come unstuck being injured. But you never know, it could be just one of those occasions where they're both back for for this one and have been saved for this, rather than the Stoke one.
One thing none of us are under any illusions with and that's Spurs are currently a **** hot side and we'll be right up against it which is even more reason to play your best and biggest characters able to cope. With the likes of Carroll, Sakho, Lanzini, Noble, Reid, Adrian, Kouyate, Ayew we would have half a chance and we did it with only half that lot against the same mob last season. On our day I don't fear them but I do very much respect them.
