Optimism is great but just look at the professional job the top 5 have done today. Watched Citeh today and they are light years ahead of us and most of the rest. Perhaps Zabaleta will bring a bit of their stardust with him! Everyone knows where we are short, and Gullivans it's over to you. A 15-20 goalscorer and we'll be OK next term. Have a good summer Kumbers, it's been fraught but all the fun of the fair on here. See you all in August, off to Oz for the holiday of a lifetime next week!!! Will be looking up a certain ginger-haired midfielder who lives near my cousin in Sydney. Yes that Hammers legend Robbie Slater!!! :crest:

Moving to a 60,000 stadium and finishing below Bournemouth. If that's not embarrassing then I don't know what is

I would've just about accepted it at Upton Park. But certainly not at the new stadium. What's the point moving to a bigger stadium, with more money to spend if we're going to be finishing behind Bournemouth and West Brom? The owners need to up their game this summer window.

A much better position we finished in the League than I anticipated. And we finally won a game without Nobes in the team.

We were only one win away from finishing just below were we finished last year. And there was only 2 clubs I wasn't happy finishing above us: West Brom & Bournemouth. Arrogant or not, clubs with 25,000 fans shouldn't be finishing above us with nearly 60,000.

Must do better this transfer window. Give Bilic a new contract G&S. To finish mid table with all the injuries, poor signings, new home and Payet saga is an outstanding achievement really. More quality upfront and we probably would've finished higher.
Yes that is arrogant and a touch embarrassing. However the rest of your post is spot on...

The arrogant statement aside the rest of the points are spot on.

Slav's record
7th
11th
And people think we can do better ffs
He deserves another season at least
If Sullivan backs him then we should improve on this season
Lots of other teams in a worse position than us
Forget top 6 it's not going to happen

Football isn't decided by the size of stadium. Simple as that.

Arsenal have a lot more fans in the stadium than Chelsea. You reckon Arsenal should be finishing above Chelsea because of it?

You know, a bit of backbone against Man City, Arsenal, and Liverpool and we'd have been top ten on goal difference.

Sounds like double standards from west ham fans. We say that we have to be realistic and we can't compete with the top 6 while at the same time saying that we have no right to finish above teams with a much smaller budget than us.

This

If we do our job right we don't finish below clubs like Bournemouth. It's not right, it's not competitive, but that's 21st century football. Money rules. We should have a lot, lot more of it than AFC Bournemouth and if we're behind them on the pitch then we are doing something wrong.

Just for everyone's information, the team who are punching most above their weight are spurs, their wage bill is half of all their rivals, so it shows that it can be done.

Bournemouth wage bill 34m. West ham 80m, they shouldn't be able to get near us if we were run properly

Very good victory for the Hammers today. Not many teams take all three points at Burnley.

Good solid away win.

Hats off to Slav, for guiding us through a tough season on and off the pitch.

He has done it with class and dignity, hasn't used any excuses, or looked to blame anyone or anything.

Onwards and upwards.

Just for those who think this victory should have been automatic, it is worth remembering we were missing Reid, Masuaku, Obiang, Kouyate, Noble, Carroll, Antonio, Nordtveit, Calleri and Sakho from an already flawed squad. We played without a senior central midfielder or striker.

You are quite right, they shouldn't. One to eleven, their players, perhaps with or two exceptions, are no better than ours and there is not much to choose between the two managers either, so it comes down to the running of the respective clubs and I know I keep banging on about it, but player fitness and coaching and there is the big difference. I hope we address that this summer as well as player recruitment, because we need some major surgery in many positions
