Someone leaves a club, and it's fans stop rating said person. Funny that, as there's zero bitterness in football.

Lewis may, or may not work out. One thing is for sure though... he can't be any worse than Stijn bloody Vandenbroucke and his team of world class experts.

Lewin working his magic on Arnie already. Compound fracture downgraded to cramp. Good work, Gary.

a good work out against a superior squad. they bring on walker sterling silva all 40m+ players we bring on snodgrass rice and holland.

we are not competing with them nor will most teams. money is ruining football.

I thought rice looked good . might get a start if our injuries dont clear up.

arthur fonte chico ayew obiang all had a good workout.

hopefully arnie ok.

The saving grace is I think it's better to get out the teething problems now and think longhand hard about who to get before the window closes. Better to see it now than after the window closes.

man city have a first XI stacked with some of the best footballers money can buy. the only way we can have a hope of matching them is with 100% commitment to every press, stray ball, tackle, header and sniff of a counter.

you don't get any of those things in a pre-season friendly. you think martinez would've bottled out of that challenge on the keeper with points on the line?

a lower intensity game was always going suit them and the quality they have. they can play at 50% and still stroke the ball around like it's made of silk.

if exactly the same performance is replicated in a week then we might have something to worry about.

Can't quite agree mate. Didn't he play a few 2nd string/youngsters himself after half time? Somewhere 1st framers but some were just making up the numbers and yet we still looked toothless and scared to play.

The way I look at it, that was Citeh's best 11 out there today. Our first 11 is a significant upgrade on the team we put out today. We did not have enough attacking threat without Lanzini and Antonio. Reid will definitely be an upgrade on Fonte and with Kouyate providing more pace and energy in the middle we will be much more competitive than we were today.

Seriously, with Antonio, Lanzini, Arnie and Chicharito in our side I am looking forward to giving just about any PL team a lot to think about. I am not too bothered about today's match it was nothing more than a chance to get match fitness for much of our team.

Really hope we see more of Rice this season he looks mustard!

Not a fan of sitting back and inviting pressure, sets a nagative mindset imo.

I know it's a workout in preseason but we did look fairly pants today.

Some good efforts from Byram, Rice, Fernandes and obiang, who is looking a bit of a beast in pre season.

I agree with a lot of that Sarfend. What frustrates me though, is the thought that we will undoubtedly produce z lot of good work going forward, which I have little worries about, only to see a lot of that work undone by continual sloppy, demoralising football at the back. We will be good but we could be a he'll of a lot better once we sort our defending out.

It's gone on for far too long now for it to suddenly change, making the same stupid mistakes whether it's playing German pub team players or Man Citys 'Superstars. Same old same old..

He's my last remaining hope for our defence if we go with only what we've got and don't buy a new ready made Centre Half. At 18, it would be sensational if he did step in and suddenly made us tick at the back. But you never know, here's hoping..

That is, unless Bilic reverts to 3 at the back which works but it seems unlikely as he's not bothered with at at all this summer. :?

I am not sure 3-5-2 "works" for us. Especially as we only ever seem to have 1 fit striker.

That's why I say 3 at the back because it doesn't necessarily mean playing 2 up top.

We can play effectively 361 or 343. It also solves the other issue when he comes to (god forbid) striker injury curse and we onky need 1 striker up top anyway.

I've rarely liked the disjointed 4231. It encourages 4 players innthe final 3rd to be lazy unless you have exceptional talent in that 3rd of the pitch.

I'd sooner go 442 than 4231. Everything has to work perfectly and in sync for it to work well, especially for a team like ours.

People say we shouldn't expect to compete with these teams. It wasn't that long ago Leicester managed it.
