Manchester Utd 4-0 West Ham Utd (13/08/17)

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
I wouldn't be surprised if Bilic stuck a young defender in front of the back 4, similarly to Oxford against Arsenal a couple of years back. Maybe Rice can step in?
I more expect to see a very defensive 5-4-1 formation however, with Ayew especially playing very defensively. Don't think he'll start Hernandez either, could possibly go with Martinez up front.
Would love to be optimistic for this one, but I'm struggling!
2-1 to Man U, Lukaku double.

JustPark is a good app for parking. Use it alot and used in for the 1/4 final at old trafford last season. People give you their private drive for the day. Plenty available 10/15 mins walk from the ground for around £8. Keeps you away from the busy car parkslake1986 wrote:Driving up to this one,

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
I'm going for a 1-1 draw. Mourinho will be hungry for tomorrow and the missed training days will damage their preparation for us. Mourinho won't want to lose so I reckon he'll sit back. Would say 1-0 us but a West Ham and clean sheet just don't go.

Those predicting us to win 1-0 are clearly not factoring in the obligatory Lukaku goal against us.

I do like the look of that team and for me, is the best possible line-up I've seen so far. Although Byram worries me and so does the team's general lack of pace.
When everyone is fit, I'd put Zab RB, Kouyate in beside Obiang and replace Fonte with someone like Smalling. Gives us more muscle, legs and pace in the important areas.[/quote]
100% Agree Also Option if needs be, Cheik at CB can switch with Zaba on counter, Reid at LCB Cheik/Zaba interchangerble RCB

Seconded... I think this was the app used when we came up for the cup game in 15/16... 10 mins walk from the ground, maybe only a fiver?rtwhufc83 wrote:

Best chance we have IMHO is to screw with their heads a bit a la' the Arsenal away 2 years ago (or indeed 37 years ago). Personally would like to see Adrian in goal, but we won't, so.
Hart
Zabaleta Reid Collins
Byram Rice Noble Masuaku/Cresswell
Lanzini
Arnautovic
Hernandez
Ok it looks slow at the back...but if it's well-drilled and organised then playing a deep, disciplined line could make up for the deficiencies in pace... I can't see us going toe-to-toe with them pace wise anyway. If it's all going tits up, Zaba can cover Byram at RB from a right sided CB position...if we get a good spell in the game, Zaba can cover Byram bombing forward a bit.
Rice, well perhaps he's there as a Reece Oxford at the Emirates thing, but having watched him in pre-season, I could see that working. Also something Jose wouldn't have accounted for.
Arnautovic as a ranging number 10, playing off Hernandez but also working across the width of the pitch...or at times joining Hernandez as part of a front 2, again working left to right. He could do it, just hope he has the gumption to do so.
Lanzini... basically react to what's in front and what's behind you, as is required.
NB; get Obiang in sharpish for either Nobes or Rice if it isn't working; I've selected Nobes for his organising and short passing game head of Pedro, but easily interchangeable.

byram providing cover for a slowing zab and can go forward when able to with zab at the back.
arnie to play left but to get forward in support with arthur using pace to get back noble and obiang to provide cover as needed
subs adrian cresswell fonte rice fernandez martinez fegouli(if still with us) if not holland
young bench apart from fonte and adrian.
if we are organised and dont concede early we will nick it 1-0 through chico.

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
f*** me I have missed football. Due to the athletics scam and them moving Huddersfield to Monday night my first game after this won't be until Spurs at home.
This is what I would play; designed to get to at least 60mins at 0-0 and taking any chances we may get. We cannot afford to start another season off badly, and even if we lose 1-0 its not a terrible result before Saints and the Barcodes.
Hart
Zabaleta Reid Fonte Masuaku
Rice
Obiang Noble
Lanzini Arnautovic
Hernandez
* Masuaku will bomb forward more than Zabaleta so shouldnt be caught with 2 at the back at all.
* Rice to drop into the back 3 when defending, as a DM when in posession.
* Lanzini and Arnie to play as inside forwards/number 10's.
* if we get to 60 and its level or ahead change it as required. Ayew Fernandes and Martinez all have their qualities. Still think we are looking thin already though...

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
I get a tad downhearted when I read our supporters going on about what their players will do to us. Can we flip it and start staying what our lads can do to them for a change.
Masuaka if selected can give their right back a busy afternoon, at least an afternoon he won't want to remember, Lanzini with his darting runs and clever vision can give their DM a tough time, Hernandez can be a handful for any defence,
As much as people don't rate him Hart is a very very good goalkeeper, come on lads lets have at them and have them worrying about us.

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
It will take some time before we see a front line of Antonio, Lanzini, Marko and Javier, but once they're all fit and have had some time to gel together, they'll be deadly. I just can't wait for that.
But agreed Exiled, with the right tactics and if the lads are up for it, there's no reason we can't pose a threat to this lot.
I know Reid will be up for it

Season hasn't started and we should certainly not be worried. Let's not start scaremongering.
That said, starting every season with so many injuries is an absolute piss-take.
I have my doubts regarding Gary Lewin. Not the best record out there.
We absolutely need Arnautovic, Lanzini, Antonio and Hernandez all ready, fit, and up for the battle.
Big fan of this post. Can't really argue with much of what you've said either.

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
I was just watching a short video of Ayew's goals. The man is an amazing goal sneak. Yes, he may have missed one or two last season, but his ability to poach a goal is second to none. Coupled with his assists last year I actually think he did quite well for us considering his injuries.

Easily missed amidst the gloom of the aftermath, but he scored a legit goal against City as well.

Bookies are offering just short of evens on Man Utd to win and us not to score. Easiest money you'll ever make
And ffs we finally sign a decent right back and some people are putting him in midfield

Man Utd asking us to arrive an hour early. And not to bring bags.

Does anyone know if the special trains still run to Man Utd from Piccadilly. I know they were stopped for security reasons a coupe of years ago.
