Manchester Utd 4-0 West Ham Utd (13/08/17)

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
Obiang looks off the pace. Poor performance.
Noble has played OK. Some neat passes.
The issue is the Fernandes role. That player needs to carry the ball 20-30 yards to get us up the field. Lanzini & Antonio are the players we have that do that, what Payet was incredible at.
Not much we can change.
Man United have also been good & are better than us.

I'd put Rice for Obiang or Fernandes to play as a DM

Yeah I'd be inclined to bring on Rice and maybe tell him to get close to Pogba. Push Noble on to try and press Matic a bit who is ****ing running it.

Pogba & Matic are running the show. No disgrace to be behind to a team that's likely to be challenging for the title.
I'm not sure what Ayew's role is, other than headless-chicken-in-chief. Marko and Petits Pois have looked ok on the few occasions they've been anywhere near the ball. Can see them getting the hump if they continue to be starved of service through the season though.

I don't think we've been that bad tbf, not as bad as some are making out on here anyway...
I remember now why I stay out of match threads.
The polarising is staggering.

Not too bad. Really don't see what others see in Fernandes. I can't stand midfielders who can't make simple passes. Having said that Obiang is holding onto the ball too long. Neither getting stuck in either. We'll lose this by 2 or 3. Without Lanzini and Antonio we pose no great threat in terms of possession or pace sadly.

Zabaleta has carried the ball into attack more than any of our midfield, he may be getting on in football terms but as they say class is permanent , if only he had Lanzini in front of him

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
Harry, on two occasions where we've gone forward, Obiang has failed to trap a simple ball and Man Utd broke forward both times. Just as we started to get forward a bit, with Masuaku picking the ball up, Obiang gives the ball away sloppily and Man Utd break again.
It's all good and well saying, let's have a go, but it's not easy when your main man in midfield can't trap a bag of cement.
We really haven't been that bad.

Donning my tin hat.
But I would like to see either Obiang / Fernandes off for Byram and push Zaba into DM. Think that would make a big difference for the second half.

1 - 0 down at half time isn't too bad.. we need to play further up the pitch this half .. Man U defence isn't that much copbut they're having an easy time of it. We need to stick Sakho on up top with Chicha and press them .. they've got too much time to play out from the back.

Amazing zabaleta has totally escaped criticism for the goal.No idea what he was thinking,if he was in position ,they don't score as simple as that.

We're missing Kouyate in my view. We don't have the strength in the middle of the park to cope with Matic and Pogba.
Ayew's having one of those days that make you wonder why we paid more than buttons for him but, that said, he'll probably score.

Re: Manchester United vs West Ham United match thread
Defence having to work overtime because Man U not giving our midfielders any time on the ball . Hopefully , we can create a bit more in the 2nd half and just test the goalkeeper a few times. Obiang looks a bit jaded and Ayew hasn't got the pace to trouble them on the right side. Arnautovic could be our best bet to create something from nothing.
