Slav didn't line up once with 3 at the back so I cannot see that formation taking shape unless we get desperate.
Didn't we have this situation last season? Deja vu unfortunately.
Anyway,
I think it will be the same team but Cresswell for Masuaku, who looked pretty awful yesterday. Off day or just out of his depth? Not sure but Cresswell now has his chance to prove to Slav.
Ayew on the right is suicide with Zaba on the same side. He offers 0 defensively so that needs sorting before the weekend.
Fernandes: zero for tackles, interceptions, clearances and headers. That's unacceptable even for a 21 year old. He's got talent but I'm not sure the midfield hurly burly is for him.
With any luck the midfield could be Carvalho - Obiang - Noble against Saints with the skipper furthest forward of the three. Last chance saloon for Obiang who for me is decent at everything but excels at nothing. Not convinced he's got a pair of b*llocks when it matters either. Rice is waiting in the wings and looks promising. I'm assuming Lanzini and Kouyate will still be out. If Kouyate is back f*** Pedro off out of it.
Southampton absolutely battered Swansea over the weekend and they didn't score. We are so poor at defending that I cant imagine we wont concede, so all their goals to come at once.

from not available for selection, to starting 6 days later, in a situation where they've missed the end of pre-season?
Seems unlikely, as does putting Carvalho straight in, even if he signs in time.

antonio said on TV he could've been in selection for the mancs but they (or he) decided to go in with the 23s so he could feel more confident that he was match fit as there are things about playing a match you can't replicate in training.
