And that's the problem. Half the posters on here want a full strength side. Half want to see the kids given a shot. Whatever route is taken, should it go awry (or even to plan) not everyone will be happy, or even take a pragmatic view of the events that take place.

Maybe full strength is unnecessary. Adrian, Byram, Masuaku, Obiang etc... I'd still sort of consider that full strength in the sense of some days they are picked for a premier league game.

Noble Man is right though, night game away at a hungry League 2 side. Banana peel. And what do we have to play for if not the Cups!

Full strength team. No resting players, we need a win to get back on track. Losing this game will kill any confidence we have left. Go full strength, take some kids and if we can get comfortable, then bring the kids on with 30 mins to go. Simply cannot afford to lose this game with how we've started this season.

Thinks there's going to be a big upset... a win for WHU.

All this "pick the kids" nonsense does my head in .

This is a competitive fixture in a competition we have a chance of winning - the whole point of keeping score .

Slaven needs to be clear in his thinking , select the strongest side he has available for THIS game and then repeat the exercise for every game that follows it .The one exception I would make is to play a cup keeper .

Chuck everything at it .

For games like these, I don't know if i trust our usual XI with everything to lose more than squad players eager for game time and eyeing a spot in our first XI.

There is no reason to rest anyone and no one except Chicarito have any reason to believe they are in the first 11 after the first two matches. They have to prove they are good enough so I don't see it as "dropping first teamers to let the kids have a go". Play as if your place in the team depends on it regardless of age.

If we can't play some of the youngsters in a game against league 2 opposition, they're never gonna get a chance. I'd go...

---------------------------------------Adrian------------------------------------

Byram----------------Collins------------Rice---------------Masuaku

------------------Quina--------Obiang---------Fernandes---------

-------------Ayew---------------Sakho------------Haksabanovic

Subs; Hart, Ogbonna, Zabaleta, Kouyate, Holland, Samuelsen, Martinez

3-1 win, Sakho, Collins, Ayew

If we really dig in and stay disciplined, I think we have a chance at stealing this one :crest:

The Robins are gonna be optimistic that they can get something out of this one.
Could be a good game for us to get some confidence back (with a win).

Obvs want us to win both but can't help feeling a bit sick if we win on Weds then lose on Sat.
Even sicker if we lose both...

antonio has just come back and should not be risked nor should hernandez zabaleta cresswell

kouyate to get a run out for 30 mins before saturday.
we have carroll and hernandez if needed

Spot on. Anything less than the strongest available team for this game is an insult. Slav has the tools at his disposal to finish in the top ten and have a good crack at the cups, and that's what I expect him.to do...and if he doesn't I will be thoroughly disappointed.

Would change Hart for Adrian, Collins for Fonte, Martinez and Sakho up top, drop Ayew, give Saed Haksabonivic a start.

The rest should be the team that started on Saturday

I would be in favour of making a few changes, not because it's the cup, but because I think we can do with trying something different. It needs to be first team for first team in the main, though.
We have to with Arnautovic out anyway. Question marks over whether Antonio is ready for his second game in 5 days since his layoff.

I wouldn't mind seeing the young Saed come in, but not chucked in with a load of other inexperience.
I'd certainly play Collins in this fixture 100%

Keeper would be either/or, but would keep Hart in for the next league game.

Looking forward to this one, would play those that need minutes but still taking the game (and the competition) seriously:

-----------------------Adrian
Byram---Collins---Fonte---Masuaku
------------------------Rice
Antonio-----------Kouyate (c)---Fernandes
----------------Martinez---Sakho

SUBS: Hart, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Obiang, Haksabanovic, Ayew, Hernandez
