Post by costa75 »

Slav needs to go full strength, and I believe he will. With that in mind, both the manager, and the players should start this game with nothing in their minds other than giving this fourth tier team a good hammering.

As we all know though, Slav can be a touch negative.

I like him, I rate him, but there are simply too many options in front of him, of a good age, who will keep him well away from the team.
If Cresswell has caps...

Byram is potentially the best right wing back in England. He's miles better than Walker and Clyne technically.

But not Trippier, or Oxlade Chamberlain who's started playing there for Arsenal recently. Even Antonio gets called up for that role before he does in my opinion.

At best, he's 5th choice and I reckon he's more like 8th or 9th just based on his fashionability. We'd more likely change formation before calling him up.

Been there - done that....... too many times than I care to remember...... and whoever has just beaten us always gets a plum/envious draw in the next round to boot!.

Its the West Ham way!

And Victor Moses is a rubbish winger (heard here repeatedly just two seasons ago) ....or maybe a PL champion wing back.

A number of our players are being wasted at the moment.

I went down to Cheltenham's ground last Friday. I didn't notice any pubs nearby and the town seemed a fair old walk away. I think they try and get people to park their cars up at the racecourse and catch the buses. That seemed relatively close but never saw any boozers round there either,
Hopefully one of the local Hammers will have better info.[/quote]

The Bank House or The Moon Under Water are both wetherspoons. There is also a Yates, a pub called The Spectre and Bierkeller all around 15/20 min walks from the ground in the city centee

I'll be quite disappointed if Haksabonovic doesn't play. I, quite irrationally, have it in my head that he's going to be brilliant.

Anyone else doing this on the club coaches? Match tickets have arrived but coach ticket hasn't... might have to hold on to the roof down the M40 :D

Bierkeller is quite loud if you like it and the beer is not great (in my opinion) but is fairly reasonable.

The Bank House Wetherspoons has the worst carpet (for a Wetherspoons) that I have ever seen, it gives me a headache! I will most likely be in the moon under water one.

Also the Vine is just around the corner which is pretty hip and has good Thai food.

Assist and a goal from The Hak, I reckon. We've found our Payet replacement, he tears Newcastle apart on Saturday and wins young player of the season.

I hope we win. I don't care if it's 1-0 off of Collins' beard in the 93rd minute or by a big margin playing fancy football.

Yeah I agree with this. I'm all for giving a couple of fringe players a run out, but our team needs to gel and gain some momentum whilst also not overexerting our first choice players too early in the season. It's a fine balance.

That said, I would probably go;

Adrian

Byram
Collins
Ogbonna
Masuaku

Rice
Obiang
Fernandes

Antonio
Haksabanovic

Sakho

Bench of; Hart, Fonte, Noble, Ayew, Chicharito, Cresswell & Martinez.
