Cheltenham grafted but as much penetration as a eunuch...

We had to work for our two goal margin, we did the job required on the night.

Comfortable, if not convincing.

Collins was a colossus. How Fonte ever starts ahead of him is beyond me.

Sakho did well. Would love to know what his problem is as, on his day, he is well worth keeping.

Would have no problem at all if Adrian stayed in goal.

Fernandes still looks lightweight and Rice has definitely gone above him in the pecking order, acknowledging of course that he plays a different role

That was about as comfortable as sinking into an old leather armchair - not often that's happened in these types of games in recent seasons. Europa, friendlies, lower league cup ties - we usually make a meal of it. So that's a positive. No injuires and a clean sheet mean it's a good night.

Thought Obiang played well. We had some decent chances in the second half. Ginge over Fonte, all day long. Without Lanzini and Antonio we don't seem to have the creativity. Does this count as one of Arnautovic's banned games.?

Fernandes has talent but needs to grow a pair.

If our squad wasn't so slight it wouldn't be the worst idea to give him a loan to a championship team and toughen him up a little.

It was Cheltenham. It's really not relevant to make conclusions about who should be starting over who based on a performance against this lot.

Fair point Boooooooogers but I think I saw enough tonight, and every other game I have seen since Fonte play since he arrived for that matter, to say that Collins is definitely my preferred choice of the two. 100%committed to us is the Ginger Pele

A nice, comfortable routine performance against lower league opposition. How very un-West Ham.

Some people are really looking for anything to hate a player or two.

[OT] Thought it was a textbook training ground performance today, had a hairy moment or two but nothing to be scared about for once. Fernandes was our worst player, he looked pretty lost at what to do next at some points.

My Dad had 5-0, 5-1 and 6-0 as some bets, I'm not a betting man but I thought it would only be 2-0, when was the last time we won by a high margin?

Both he and my brother were getting frustrated at us passing back, I think I get the idea of it if you watch the whole pitch, it's supposed the draw out some of the 10 men on the other team behind the ball so you can expose the gaps, only our players seem to be a bit too slow to do it.

Anyway, it was a fairly comfortable win. On to Newcastle, we should be playing in our home kit against them.

Do they both shout 'forward'! everytime someone passes it backwards like the blokes round me at the stadium?
Your summary of why teams do it is about spot on, of course it can also happen if they have no other options, but all teams pass the ball backwards at some stage.
