There were consecutive games, whereby

1. In the first, he got sent off for two yellows, the 2nd after a high challenge against Kou at Selhurst Park, and
2. When they played their last match at the old ground, he somewhat over-egged a challenge from Kou, which led to a red card for us. This Kou card was later rescinded.

That Kouyate sending off was ridiculous. Clattenburg weren't it?

Couldn't get the card out quick enough!

Some tidy work from Jacob Steinberg this morning:
If ever you’ve wanted to gain an insight into the fabled West Ham Way – Sam Allardyce and Sir Alex Ferguson have both loudly wondered if such a thing even exists – St Mary’s was the place to be last weekend. A farcical afternoon began with Winston Reid, Slaven Bilic’s best centre-back, pulling up with a muscle injury in the warm-up a day after signing a new six-year contract (two years after the 29-year-old signed a six-and-a-half-year deal). The laughs kept coming when West Ham took 11 minutes to fall behind to Southampton, who had not scored a home goal since 5 April, before they lost Marko Arnautovic to a red card when the club’s new record signing decided to elbow Jack Stephens. Then José Fonte, a 33-year-old centre-back signed for £8m from Southampton in January, conceded his fifth penalty since the start of last season. West Ham fought back to 2-2 thanks to Javier Hernández’s poaching instincts, only for wily 32-year-old Pablo Zabaleta to concede a last-minute penalty with a nudge on the lethal Maya Yoshida. Charlie Austin stepped up to convert the spot-kick. Mark Noble had told Austin that Joe Hart knew where he was going to put it, so he changed sides and sent the goalkeeper in the wrong direction.

In other news Newcastle United have have lost their opening two games without scoring a goal, Rafael Benítez feels that Mike Ashley has not backed him enough this summer, the Spaniard has been linked with West Ham this week and St James’s Park regulars doubt that Dwight Gayle, Ayoze Pérez, Joselu and Aleksandar Mitrovic will be potent enough in a relegation battle. Guess who’s coming to town on Saturday afternoon, though …

we simply must beat these. serious questions should be asked if we somehow fail to do so. 3 points is a must.

im confident we will give them a hiding.

Any tips on a good place to park please?
Anyone on the parking? I haven't been up there for years and haven't got a clue where to park now. Everywhere I go now the parking restrictions have really clamped down in the 7 years we've been away.

I would like to see this.

-------------Hart
Zaba - Collins - Oggy - Cress
Rice - Kouyate
Antonio - Noble - Ayew
Little Pea

This would allow the interchange of 3 - 5 - 2 if necessary

----------------------Hart
Zaba - Collins - Oggy
Antonio Rice - Kouyate - Cress
Noble
Ayew Little Pea

Think that would do us well. Maybe abit harsh on Obiang but I don't think he's fit enough yet, should see the best of him in a few more weeks. Lanzini to get some well needed minutes.

Last year we picked up 24 points out of 36 against the bottom six and that seems to be Newcastle's standard.

6 aways:

Swansea A W 4-1 (Antonio, Ayew, Carroll, Reid)
Boro A 3-1 (Carroll 2, Calleri)
Burnley A 2-1 (Ayew, Feghouli)
Watford A 1-1 (Ayew)
Sunderland A 2-2 (Ayew, Collins)
Hull A 1-2 (Carroll)

It could, and probably should have been 18 points out of 18 on the road, instead of 11. Points were lost through Randolph flapping (Sunderland), Kouyate at RB (Watford) and lack of midfield effort at Hull.

If we run true to last year's form we should be looking at two scored and probably a win. Ayew might be worth a couple of pence to score if selected, but we never kept a single clean sheet. :P

Just looking at all those significant goals scored by Ayew, I really cannot fathom why so many on here have such a problem with him.

It's as if scoring goals in the Premier League was easy and goalscorers were 10 a penny.

There's tight security this season so road closures around SJP tomorrow and warnings not to take bags in.

Best areas to try and park for free are the streets behind the new university buildings opposite the stadium (sat nav to Stanhope Street, Pitt Street or Wellington Street and you'll be in the right area).

Alternatively, head to Claremont Road and walk to the stadium via the medical school and Leazes Park.

He's Nolan, Trev.

People say what does he do ? He scores goals at a rate of 1 in 3/1 in 4 games - and probably more often against lower half opposition.

Betfair have him at 16/5 to score tomorrow - yet he's scored in 6 of his last 12 away games - that's evens on form. I'll wait to see the line ups, but it looks like the bookies are being generous.

6 goals and 3 assists in his last 16 games.

One of the fun things about this season will be noting the difference in reactions to his (boo, lazy) tap-ins and Hernandez's (genius) tap-ins.
