Imagine if a couple of years ago you'd have said that the opening home game of our second season at our World Class venue would be a must win fixture against Huddersfield. Don't win and the manager gets the boot but nobody has a clue who to replace him with!

The 'next level' turns out to be a return to 1988.

oh the irony
Come on Doc, you know the drill, replace 'wold class venue' with 'world class, iconic, UEFA cat 4' stadium

I'm delighted Huddersfield Town are back in the top flight .A proper football club with a proud history flying the flag for Yorkshire .

I'm looking forward to welcoming them and their supporters to our rented home so they too can see what a terrible stadium it is for watching football in .They'll trot off back up the M1 thinking how lucky they are .

Of the promoted sides I reckon they have the second best chance of staying up, and they are certain to give is a game .We'll do well to beat them that's for sure .They are confident and playing without fear whilst we cannot string two passes together .

Forget any suggestion they will be easy beats , this game is classic respect the point stuff .

I'll wait 10 days before trying to select a team , we may sell another couple before the end of the window, and there's always the chance of a couple of those that remain going on strike .

One player I will select right now though is our Captain .

Noble starts for me .

I see the voice of Gold (one Facebook Page & Website) is suggesting Terry Westley until the end of the season, think the owners like first to sound out opinion, other when they open their mouths or Tweet with thinking First.

Of all times we need to back Our Club Captain Mark Noble at this time, to keep everything together, we must not lose this game.

Slav has always delivered in the past when facing the boot but I really wouldn't bet on us getting anything from this. Huddersfield will almost certainly come at us fast and hard, closing us down all over the pitch and looking to score an early goal or two to knock the fight out of us. Whilst it pains me to say this if we can grind out a 0-0 that would be a result.

If we don't try and match their intensity, which is all I have asked for in the previous games, we will lose. We need to work hard as a unit. Spurs last year proves we can do that, so why don't we ?

Rob Green just signed for them too.

I would like to present this match through the prism of young children at play.

Sorry, but I'm in real downbeat mode at the moment (along with most others I'd guess). I really can't see anything other than a Huddersfield win. 0-1. :x

I think he has to go with three at the back and it may be wise in this one to go with two holders.

-----------------------------Hart
---------Kouyate---Collins/Fonte------Reid
Zabaleta-------Rice------Obiang----------Cresswell/Arfur
-----------------------Lanzini
---------------Antonio-------Hernandez

Subs: Adrian: Byram: Fernandes: Ayew: Carroll: Sakho: Noble

Reid or Zabaleta as captain.

Noble has been unable to keep anything together this season, why should this game be any different. He is finished at this level.

nobes is simultaneously the only player we've got capable of keeping it all together, while seemingly being incapable of keeping it all together.

Re Noble, think he is burned out, a great servant but this is football not the Davis cup,
we cannot afford to have a non playing captain.

0-3 to Huddersfield but it will somehow still be the Board's fault.

Assuming all fit (a bif if I know), would like to see the following 3 at the back:

Hart
Zabaleta Collins Reid
Byram Obiang Kouyate Cresswell/Masuaku
Lanzini
Sakho/Antonio Hernandez

A bit of grit in defence, pacey wing backs with a more solid central midfield pairing (Obiang holding, Kouyate box to box) and a radical two up top to give Hernandez some support.

Rice, Ayew etc on the bench. Would also like to see Holland and Haksabanovic on the bench for this if we need to change it around. Holland had a blinder for the U23 against Swansea and they can't do any worse than what we started with against Newcastle.

At least they'll bring a bit of pace and play without fear. Time for Bilic to go for it as trying to nick a one nil won't work as our defence and midfield have been non existent.
