Re: West Bromwich Albion v West Ham United match thread
Highlights of the day –
Ginger Pele’s gesture to West Brom fans
‘You’ve only got one drum’
‘Sakho in disguise’ at Hawthorns station
Chinese buffet in Birmingham
West Brom fans moaning about Pullis on train back to London
Spurs fans moaning about Wembley on tube
End of Redknapp’s managerial career (surely)
Was there a football match too?

He's been a puzzle for a while. Offers nothing to the commentary, the most insteresting thing he mentioned was that he spoke to Brooking on the phone while driving to the game. The Old Man of Storr wrote:Watching the recorded Sky match this morning something that got right up my nose was Tony Gale's snidey remarks regarding West Ham players -
Surely there's someone better to cover our games?

If they can get Peter Cushing into a Star Wars film maybe they can get Brian Moore or David Coleman up in the Commentary Box - Bring back the Sheepskin Jacket that was John Motson , at 72 he's miles better than this current mob .hammerman11 wrote:wouldnt worry about it all commentators are crap be they sky,BT or MOTD

Did anyone at the game yesterday happen to find a bunch of keys? My son claims they must have fallen out of his pocket. TIA

Gotta admit, TOMOS - he wasn't wrong about any of those things. Reid ran 40 yards to try get a player sent off, something I'd deplore the other way around.

Not to mention Slav waving an imaginary card around on the touch line.Wilko1304 wrote:Gotta admit, TOMOS - he wasn't wrong about any of those things. Reid ran 40 yards to try get a player sent off, something I'd deplore the other way around.
Despise both of these actions.

He's scored four goals since this time last year in 32 games.Hamburger wrote:For me Antonio is wasted as a wingback, he's our top scorer ffs!

I was out all day yesterday at another engagement.
Presume I needn't waste my time watching the highlights?

Grinded out the point and I just have one thing to say. Thank goodness I wasn't born a WBA fan. Can you imagine watching that dross from your team week in week out.....
We did well not to get mugged by a dour defensive WBA side whose sole aim is to not concede and hopefully nick a goal.
Well done the lads for being the better side and for not being naive. There was an interception/tackle by our Argentinian fella that saved the day towards the end. Great stuff.

He bottled sending Foster off and had his yellow card out instantly.rare as rockinghorse shat wrote:Thought he was the best performer on the pitch.

Any outfield player making that tackle anywhere on the pitch is a straight red

Must admit a red card was in hope more than expectation for me.
My immediate thought was that the ball was going away from goal, there were defenders tracking back and there was barely any contact.
I'm sure we'd be massively annoyed if it was our keeper and a red was dished out.

I thought at the time it was a possible red because of the studs up nature of the challenge rather than a clear goalscoring chance.
I couldn't be bothered to watch it on the box - did he definitely get Hernandez?

Really? He was terrible .... Got so many things and was inconsistent.rare as rockinghorse shat wrote:

The away end was going ballistic at him ....
Obaing goes down injured, Kouyate tries to kick it out but ****'s up and west brom carry on with our players incensed. Horrible couple of minutes - complete fiasco.
Antonio incident near the end when we lost possession because of a head injury.
Blew up a few times when should have played on when we had good advantage.
Lack of protection to Carroll and Hernandez.
Keeper could have been sent off.
Showed no consistency with his bookings and other fouls.
Re: West Bromwich Albion v West Ham United match thread
But with no keeper in the goal had Foster not have made the foul he'd had have a shot into an unguarded goal, so surely a goal scoring opportunity.HammerMan2004 wrote:Must admit a red card was in hope more than expectation for me.

If that hadn't been a professional football match I think Reid would've destroyed Robson-Kanu, he honestly look like he was just going to jump on him and kill him after the elbow.

That passage of play when we had an injury and tried to put it out and then West Brom took the ball and carried on playing was a disgrace! Dirty, horrible boring team. Should be fined for that, as bad as diving to gain an advantage.

Re: West Bromwich Albion v West Ham United match thread
With regards Fosters challenge on Hernandez, in real time it looked like a red, having seen the replays , a yellow was probably right .
It was a bad tackle, worthy of a yellow, not a goal scoring opportunity requiring a sending off .
However, it does beg the question , is a yellow card much of a deterrence to a goal keeper at all ?
How many times do GK's get booked, and how often twice in the same game ?
A yellow to a FB in the 4th minute has a huge impact on the game , a yellow to a GK at the same time , almost none .
How about a change to the rules .
If a keeper commits any foul whatsoever outside of the box they get a straight red and a 1 game ban .
If it is for violent conduct, 3 match ban .

Re: West Bromwich Albion v West Ham United match thread
It was half high feet, half a goal scoring opportunity.
Half a red plus half a red = a red.
Most of the Baggies I spoke to after thought Foster was lucky, but then they were so comatose they looked like the sleepwalking dead.

Re: West Bromwich Albion v West Ham United match thread
For me re: the Foster incident it was more the motion of his leg, it was high and it was a reckless challenge which is why I think it should have been a red.
