First away day of the season for me - looking forward to it! :scarfer:

Do people tend to drink in Birmingham before heading to the ground? If anyone could let me know usual places that the away lot go to would be great!

The Vine a short walk from the ground is my recommendation. Got busier with our lot over the last few years. Get there early and you can get a great balti - go for the mutton - and a table. Get there late and it's too rammed (boom boom).

Parking available up the road.

Lumping it against West Brom is a silly idea. Few teams are better equipped to deal with that approach than them.

-----------------------Hart-----------------------
----------Fonte-----Collins------Reid--------
---Zabaleta----------------------Cresswell--
---------------Kouyate---Obiang-------------
----Antonio--------------------Arnautovic---
-------------------Hernandez------------------

Subs: Adrian, Byram, Rice, Noble, Lanzini (hopefully, if not then Masuaku), Ayew, Carroll

Change as little as possible, but put Hernandez in his proper position and the same for Arnautovic.

pulis has to take a massive guess going into this game about whether we'll start with andy up top or hernandez with arnie/ayew on the wing. one player is the difference between two polar opposite threats.

if slav has any sense he'll guard this secret like the enigma code, or release some false flags to the media.

This. X 100. ' some roadworks ' a tad of an understatement. If at all feasible avoid the M5 below Worcester. Safe journey everyone.

Time to turn that around.
Last but one we won easily, and even last time, given the start we gave them (thanks Aurthur)' we could have beaten them in the second half.

Time to be smart and rest AC . They have some big lumps at the back and will deal with him. save for spurs.

hart
collins reid fonte
zaba obiang kouyate cresswell
antonio hernandez sakho

subs adrian byram masuaka arnautovic ayew carroll sakho

some good options on the bench for once

save lanzini and carroll for spurs

1-0 hammers Hernandez in off the bar this time !

Does Pulis still play 4 centre backs?

They'll be ready for Carroll, and they'll spend the week preparing for him. Use some pace and movement, catch them off guard, it was Lanzini that did the damage last time. Hope he's fit.

Hart
Zabaleta Reid Fonte
Antonio Obiang Lanzini Cresswell
Ayew Arnautovic
Hernandez

Antonio's pace utilised from a wider position, Ayew, Lanzini, Obiang and Arnautovic have the ability to pick out that perfect throughball for Hernandez.

My worry would be, how deep will West Brom defend, we need to get Hernandez in behind to utilise him properly.

I'm guessing Arnie will be sub, but eventually Bilic needs to be brave and drop Carroll and put Hernandez up front. He won't though.

With Krychowiak, Livermore, and Barry playing in their midfield, we absolutely have to be better on the ball than we were on Monday. They'll press us and snaffle up loose passes with ease. We can't afford to have as poor a passing game throughout the team as we did.

The west brom home game last season was probabky the best football we played all year, esp when Calleri came on and gave us movement up front.

We had a lot of pace with Antonio and Feghouli and battered them with incisive football on the floor.

This is the way to get at west brom (as Brighton showed at the Weekend)

Carroll to the bench, hernandez up front and get Nobke and ayew back in. We don't need five at the back against West brom as they are not really a pacy counter attacking team

I'm worried about this one.

The way we played for a lot of the Huddersfield game didn't fill me with confidence. I feel West Brom would have beaten us on Monday.

Fingers crossed for a victory though. Have a great day up there Hammers. Was gutted I couldn't get a couple of tickets...one of my favourite away days this.

Classic 4-4-2

-------------------------Hart
Zabaleta------Reid--------Fonte----------Cresswell
Antonio------Obiang---Kouyate----------Ayew
------------Carroll----------Hernandez

It's the only way of fitting in Carroll, Hernandez and Antonio without either Hernandez playing wide or Antonio playing as a wingback.

I don't see west brom bringing the ball forward with the fullbacks as often so hopefully we wouldnt need to use our forwards to track them as often. Therefore if lanzini is fit hopefully we can get him in the middle of the pitch behind the front 2.
-------------HART
-------Fonte-Collins-Reid
Zab--------------------------Cress
--------Kouyate--Obiang
---------------Lanzini
----Antonio--------Hernandez

Pace and movement upfront plus Antonio's strength

Makes no difference to pulis how we play, they won't adapt to us.If we play Carroll he knows they can handle him and same with Hernandez. They play the same every week.Playing Carroll would be totally pointless and play straight into thier hands.

Hopefully the booed substitution on Monday was to cut H's minutes down so he is starting up top nice and fresh as part of a big plan for West Brom. We need to beat these teams if we want to get to where I think we should be given our squad. The biggest obstacle is Pulis who seems to have the measure of us more often than not and despite his teams having an inferior squad on paper manages to organise them into a gameplan that shows our weak spots up.

Stoke 1 West Ham 2 (perhaps a ridiculous red that works in our favour this time).
