Re: West Bromwich Albion v West Ham United match thread
Collins had a freeheader he should have scored from too which was from a corner i believe. Nice to see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel especially with Arnie back and Lanzini not too far away. Want to see Carroll involved as WBA have poor possession stats so we'll have good areas to cross the balls from. Chica just in behind with Arnie and Antonio on the wings.

Indeed we did, after a bit of a scramble. My point was more that we never really got a decent head on the corners or any of the crosses for that matter. It was disappointing with the likes of Carroll, Collins and Reid in the box.LincolnshireHammer wrote:Didn't we score from a corner last night?

More over, he doesn't fit the formation. I've said on here a few times recently - our best players don't all fit into the same system. Antonio is certainly one who doesn't fit in a 3-4-3 like I laid out unless as the RM/RWB. Hernandez doesn't fit in the 3-4-3 that Bilic set out last night (to be honest, neither does Antonio in my opinion) or our normal 4-2-3-1. I'd rather see us get the most out of Hernandez, get him up alongside Carroll consistently, than play him out of position. And that means that Antonio, much as I love him and think he's great, goes, in favour of Ayew with an assist and goal from last night playing behind the two.I thought both Hernandez and Antonio were poor - lots of huff and puff but very little end product from either of them, aside from Hernandez knocking that one aginst the bar. Antonio couldn't keep hold of the ball at all and was constantly being dispossessed - I counted at least four times he lost the ball in the final third, and there was one which was dangerously in front of our own area. The game seemed to go on around those two for long stretches.
As I said, the alternative is Antonio at RM/RWB and either Zabaleta out or into the back three with one of the three CBs dropping out. But the five played well as a defensive unit last night, so I'd rather not change that.

Same team, same formation, same substitute's.
Try and get Hernandez to play off Carroll's shoulder a bit more.
Apart from that, keep to the team that started against Huddersfield.

Spot on , we finally win a game and people are trying to change it about and even go back to the formation where we conceded 10 in 3 games - no thanks.simon hammer wrote:Same team, same formation, same substitute's.

We won without him last night. He has no right to go straight back into the team either, and knowing that he is waiting in the wings should motivate others who play in his position to up their game.Absolutely Hammered! wrote:Physio room says lanzini is expected back on the 23rd which is Spurs at home. Not had a great run at The Hawthorns of late. Ever since Parker's inspired team talk, as it goes.
Time to turn that around.

Same side please. My only quibble is Hernandez helping out in our own half, its breaks and Ginge hoofs it to Carroll up top on his own.
We need to find a way of playing Hernandez up with him picking up loose balls.

Feck it, I thought I had 3 at the back, I got muddled up. I normally get so confused with my line up trying to fit them all in I end up with 13 players instead of 11NottingHammer6 wrote:

Admittedly they were weak up front but I thought he did well last night and I'm not his biggest fan.likemydreams wrote:im surprised how many have Fonte in their lineups
Be harsh to drop him, especially for Oggy who hasn't covered himself in glory either.

On his merry jaunt of a first season of aways, Bilic notched a brilliant 3-0 victory, Noble scoring a beauty..Up the Junction wrote:Not had a great run at The Hawthorns of late. Ever since Parker's inspired team talk, as it goes.
Time to turn that around.
We then collapsed like Devon Loch last season.
I'd be happy enough to emerge with a clean sheet point and see little reason to change things, in terms of first eleven. My adjustment, for what its worth, might be to retain Hernandez centrally, if/when Carroll gets subbed. Sakho's got the running in him to work a channel.
Prediction: 1 - 1
(Hernandez)

Agreed

Agree with the same side. Slightly harsh on Ayew, but the starting XI earned the right to play again.

They've trained together for a couple of weeks and played together once. It will come... then Carroll will get injured!smuts wrote:Same side please. My only quibble is Hernandez helping out in our own half, its breaks and Ginge hoofs it to Carroll up top on his own.
