Reid, Collins, Fonte, Obiang, Kouyate, Carroll, Arnautovic and Antonio all up for corners. Pulis won't be a happy camper.

I was surprised Reid did not go up for the majority of the corners last night..

-------------------------Hart--------------------------

Zabaleta-----Reid-------Fonte-----Cresswell

-------------Obiang----------Kouyate-----------

Antonio-------------Lanzini----------Arnautovic

-------------------Hernandez----------------------

That's our strongest line up for me, appreciating we've looked a bit more assured with three at the back.

I'm not giving up with my 3-3-1-3 idea!

Agree with that Billy D
Although Ayew is transferable with Arnie IMHO
And Noble or Kouyate offer different things so can be interchanged, or both play if a tough game

WBA played with three defensive midfielders last time out - the Pole, Barry and Livermore

Given they got smashed by Brighton, I expect they will bin that idea off

Whilst they have Pulis as manager, they are not overly defensive, especially at home

Despite all the energy and pressing of last night we were still lacking that killer pass so it wouldn't surprise me to see the inclusion of Mark Noble against West Brom , also with Feghouli sold and Snodgrass loaned out we're left with just Antonio as the only player able to get past their man , not seen enough of Arnautovic to see what he can do in a West Ham shirt - so Antonio needs to play . Probably best to leave Andy on the bench , will depend on how he feels after last night - so to accomodate Noble do we revert back to a flat back 4 or drop one of Obiang or Kouyate ?

I'd be tempted to go with this line-up -

...................................Hart..........................................................

Zabaleta.........................Collins ....................Reid......................Cresswell

..................................Obiang............Kouyate..............................................................

...............................................Noble...............................................................

...........Antonio............................Chicharito.....................................Arnautovic........

Bring on Carroll and Sakho for Chich and Arnie - Ayew for Noble - Rice for Kouyate as required . Fonte/ Byram and Adrian the other subs .

Kouyate to help out in attack with Noble covering as and when .

The knock on Bilic is that he doesn't have any identifiable characteristics to his management, but there is one - taking longer than everyone on the planet, including yer gran, to acquiesce to the bloody obvious. So hurrah that he's finally returned to three at the back.

Although there's no guarantee he'll keep it with Arnautovic returning. But if he has any self-respect he'll tell him he's going to chill on the bench for a while longer...

We had a lot of corners last night and not once did we ever threaten from any of them - that was disappointing.
I don't like the way Pulis has his teams set up, even if it is effective, and I don't like WBA either. I'd take a draw all day long on this one.

And still people persist with this idea that we should immediately switch to a back four :phew:

If we do that my prediction is the same as the first 3 away games. 2+ goals conceded and a defeat.

I caveated that we look a bit better with three at the back, my team was the strongest we have in my opinion and accommodates our best players.

Every single one of those defenders has played in a four most of their careers, the keeper is used to a back four. There's no reason as to why the four should struggle as a unit. The problem lies with protection of the four which was missing as we lacked Kouyate's dynamism and Antonio's pace to support his full back whilst taking us from defence to attack.

Equally, the wing back role seems to be underestimated by some of you. It's the hardest position in football, it's not just a case of an attacking full back automatically becomes a wing back. That's as simplistic as those who think Masuaku would be our best left winger because he's a bit quick and has a few tricks.

.
For the amount of opportunities we had, the quality of crossing from us seemed very poor last night

I'd go with:

--------------------------------------Hart----------------------------------

---------------Fonte-------------Collins--------------Reid-------------

-Zabaleta-----------------Kouyate---Obiang------------------Cresswell-

-Antonio----------------------Hernandez----------------------------Ayew-

Subs: Adrian, Ogbonna, Masuaku, Byram, Rice, Arnautovic, Carroll.

But I expect Slav to go with the same starting 11. Sounds harsh dropping Carroll. But I don't see him being as effective against their centre halves. We seem to rarely pick up wins against this mob. Let alone Pulis teams. Hopefully that'll all change this weekend.

This is another big game for Bilic, I'd even say it could be a must-win in his eyes.

Win this one and the season start doesn't look so bad.

Carroll has to be involved. We got done by an injury time corner at home last season, Carroll defends better than anyone I have ever seen at corners.
