West Ham Vs Tottenham Match ThreadWest Ham vs Tottenham
Premier League Saturday 23 September, 12:30pm (on sky from 11.30am) London Stadium, London Can't see this anywhere else. Arnautovic for Carrol and Chico up top Ogbonna for Collins (injured) Other than that same as the team vs West Brom please. ![]()
Re: West Ham Vs Tottenham Match Thread3 - 5 -2
Hart Fonte Reid Ogbonna Antonio Noble Obiang Kouyate Cresswell Carroll Hernandez Midfield runners to help the 2 up top. COYI
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match Thread**** it. Drop the Dead Donkey and play Sakho and Hernandez up top and go for it. It will work, I guarantee it
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match Thread
Wouldn't mind seeing those changes either. Carroll much more effective from the bench and Arnie strikes me as a big game player with a point to prove. Spurs won't be prepped for him. Think Slav will stick with the same team though sadly. Be mad to consider a move away from a back 3 after consecutive clean sheets so not suggesting it at all. However, with Collins injured and Arnie to fit in there is a case for it... ---------------- Hart ----------------- Zabaleta Reid Fonte Cresswell ------------- Obiang ---------------- Antonio --------------- Arnautovic ------------ Kouyate ---------------- ------- Carroll Harnandez -------- Last edited by sutts07 on Wed Sep 20, 2017 12:05 pm, edited 3 times in total.
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match ThreadHart
Fonte Reid Rice/Ogbonna Zabaleta Obiang Kouyate Cresswell Antonio Arnautovic Hernandez Sakho, Carroll and Ayew give us options off the bench too. COYI ![]()
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match ThreadI just can't see Bilic dropping Carroll for this. He's been waxing lyrical about his impact and unless it's the greatest bluff he's done he'll start up top. The question then is how on earth Arnautovic plays, because technically it should be ahead of Chicharito left wide forward, but then dropping Chicharito would be mental.
The Bolton game saw the return of the 4-2-3-1 that Bilic wants but well, it was Bolton, so it's hardly indicative of what's going to happen. You can hardly change an unbeaten shape that hasn't conceded a goal in two consecutive Premier League games. ..............................Hart.............................. ............Fonte........Reid....Ogbonna........... Zabaleta......................................Cresswell ...................Obiang.....Kouyate................... Antonio.....................................Chicharito ............................Carroll............................ Though I'd prefer to see Masuaku for Cresswell, Arnautovic wide left and Chicharito up top. I'd take a 0-0 if you offered it now.
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match ThreadIf you consider we gave up over 50% of ball to Huddersfield,I reckon this will be about 70/30 in spurs favour. We will defo need an out ball Antonio will be one.Hard to judge if Carroll or Hernandez is the better out ball.I just think Hernandez will get swallowed up by spurs 3 at back .I would think that Carroll will put up a better fight. But it's hard to see a weakness they have at the back, apart from maybe Antonio pace on Davies. But going the other way Aurier will be a real threat he looks lightening quick.Id be tempted to play Arthur to deal with him.
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match Thread
Although I wouldn't, I think you're right, he will start Carroll.
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match ThreadWell its that time of the season again. I know Spurs fans like to pretend they can smash us whenever they want but they know all too well that (bar the 4-1 drumming at their gaff) we can go toe to toe with them. They've shown this season that on bigger pitches they're incapable of being able to break teams down who will sit back and soak up the pressure against them. I'd go 3-5-2 for this one with Hernandez and Sakho up top to get in behind their defensive back line. However, Carroll's absence last night indicates he will be starting on Saturday. Anyone know when Danny Rose is back? If Davies is playing I reckon Antonio will bully him down that right side.
Into these West Ham ![]()
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match Thread19 players for 18 spots, so I guess the last one will go to Rice again, with Byram in the stand.
Would be over the moon with a fourth consecutive clean sheet.
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match Thread
A clean sheet against these would be superb considering spurs last 4 away won 4 F18 A 2
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match ThreadCut and paste last season's game please - twas our most complete performance of the season.
Early kick off is a pain in the arse though, especially as I'll be coming off a 12 hour night shift. Hey ho.
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match ThreadAlways think floodlights helps with these games.
The last two consecutive home wins (v Spurs) have both been under lights. (both 1-0) Someone pull the curtains. Come oN WESt ham.... ![]()
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match Threadno lanzini, a dreary lunchtime kick off and the likelihood of carroll starting has muted my usual bullish optimism of this one. was convinced we'd beat them the last couple of times they've come over in spite of form, can't say the same for saturday. hope i'm wrong.

Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match ThreadPredicted:
Hart Fonte Reid Ogbonna Zabaleta Kouyate Obiang Cresswell Antonio Carroll Hernandez Preferred: Hart Fonte Reid Ogbonna Zabaleta Kouyate Obiang Masuaku Antonio Hernandez Arnautovic If we can keep it tight first half then I think there'll be one goal in it either way. The bench may have a massive role to play on Saturday - I just hope Slav gets the subs right.
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match ThreadI love games, Saturday @lunch
![]() They're there for the taking!!! We'll counter them 3 - 0 with Hernandez doing a Ravel on them
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match ThreadSurely a game to play Arnie and Antonio either side of Hernandez . Playing Carroll would fall right into their hands. Impact sub , but doubt Bilic will have the bottle
Agree that the lights / atmosphere have contributed to our last 2 home wins against these and a lunchtime kick off will probably not generate anything like the same atmosphere , which won't help As an aside , looking at their paltry 23 k attendance last night , does anyone know if they've sold their allocation
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match ThreadIt wouldn't surprise me if Spurs picked up at least as many points on their travels this season if not more, than when playing at Wembley. This will be a tough game and I would take a draw all day long - a win would be a Brucie but defeat will **** my weekend right up.
Re: West ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match ThreadI'd love to see this:
..............................Hart.............................. ............Kouyate....Reid....Ogbonna........... Zabaleta......................................Masuaka ...................Obiang.....Noble................. ............................Antonio.......................... ..................Carroll.......Chicharito............... But we won't. I like the idea of giving Antonio in a bit of a free roam behind a 9 and 10 partnership of Big Andy and Hernandez. I also have to see Noble back, especially against Spurs. Rather than drop Kouyate, who I thought was good last night, I fancy him at CB - which is a little harsh on Fonte to be fair. I would also be tempted with Arnie but I think I'd leave him and Ayew as impact subs to switch back to 3 at front as a plan B. Putting Arthur in over Cresswell, again perhaps a bit harsh but think his direct runs could be more useful at the weekend. Nearly went for Byram too for the same reason but think I prefer Zabaleta to cover Kouyate when he steps up too far.
