They'll play a weakened side undoubtedly with Eriksen , Alli and Kane on the bench - I shouldn't imagine they have much interest in the League Cup and that's why we have to go there with every first teamer available , it's our best chance of a Cup run .kitthehammer wrote:Every year in the cups we get knocked out by a top six side. Stick the kids and squad players out. Sakho and collins may be available.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur’s v West Ham United cup match thread
I suspect we will lose but probably in a close game if Dele, Erickson and Kane are missing.
Most annoying will be the fight and passion we are likely to show which was totally absent on Friday as, as a team, we were out run and out worked by Brighton. That to my mind is the most unacceptable part, in at least 2 of the 9 games we have played this year a significant part of our team have decided they cannot be bothered to turn up. The effort of Zaba, Reid and to some extent Lanzini on Friday was so far above the rest as to be embarrassing. They however were only playing to a standard that should be the norm for outfield players in the premier league as the effort of pretty much every other team this weekend showed.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur’s v West Ham United cup match thread
You'll get plenty of reasons given why that line-up won't work, not least Antonio as wing back and Zabaleta not a centre-back. I think that is a team I'd like to see given our current predicament. Noble and Carroll have got to play - we are so weak and devoid of ideas without them. Some will,undoubtedly say it will just get lumped to Carroll - because we only play one way with him in the team -b*llocks! The width from Antonio and Cresswell is critical. Obiang/Noble/Lanzini is what we should have been playing for 2 seasons.Colours never run wrote:.....................Adrian
........Zabaleta Reid Fonte
Antonio Obiang Noble Cresswell

............Hernandez Carroll
And should they play well, the same team remains for the Palace game.

Are the pubs around Baker Street (including The Globe) designated to Sp*rs?
I understand the Green Man at Wembley is the designated away pub.
Planning required, as unable to face this game sober

Losing at home to Brighton in our worse performance of the season then beating Spurs away at Wembley couldn't be anymore the West Ham way if you tried...
Although will have more to do with them resting their best players I would guess.
I'd bring in Adrian, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Rice, Noble, Carroll and Sakho if fit.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur’s v West Ham United cup match thread
Three at the back is a must, an injection of youth and pace is needed and some bloody leadership. So I've gone with this team to start: 3-4-3
Hart;
Kouyate, Rice, Reid;
Byram, Noble, Fernandes, Masuaku;
Lanzini, Haksabanovic;
Antonio
Zabaleta and Fonte are in their mid thirties and need to be rested to be ready for Palace. Antonio to run himself into the ground for 60 mins up top with Chicharito as sub ready to replace him. Martinez and Quina also on the bench as attacking impact subs. Drop Arnautovic, Ayew and Carroll from the squad for this game and really hope some of the younger guys can take their chance and keep them out.

Watching Antonio on Friday night made me wonder whether he's anywhere near match fit.

I'd love it if he played Big Tone and the kid repaid him by running his heart out and grabbing a scrappy late winner, that would make my season!

Re: Tottenham Hotspur’s v West Ham United cup match thread
I think Pochettino is likely to rest Llorris, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Eriksen, Aurier, Ali, Kane and Dier
The first 7 because they have had and will have a lot of football in this spell and Dier because I would imagine that Pochettino won't want to risk losing another defensive midfielder with us already having Wanyama and Dembele out with no known return date for either. I think this game will also come just a little early and perhaps be a little too physical for Rose to start having been out for so long with injury. Davies has missed the last two games with illness however so should be OK to start without Pochettino having to worry about possible fatigue (especially with Rose close to a full return).
With the above in mind I would guess we will play something like the below, saying that though a fair few of Pochettino's team selections have surprised me somewhat recently.
-------------------------------------Vorm
Trippier-------------Sanches-----------Foyth----------Davies
--------------------Sissoko--------------------Winks
--------Lamela--------------------Son--------------NKoudou
------------------------------------Llorente
It is possible that Kyle Walker-Peters may start instead of Trippier. Winks might also get a rest after being involved heavily recently and the manager wanting to protect him with our other injuries in midfield, but I have no idea who would play in place of him if he was rested? There is also a question mark over whether Lamela would be ready to start a game having spent so long out. I am hoping that he is ready for a start, but it may be that he only plays a role off the bench.

That is still better, overall, than our very best eleven. Scary. Depressing. Next Level.Luke (THFC) wrote:

That team would probably come 7th in the PL.Have no idea how spurs have assembled such a squad on pretty much £0m net spend.City have more options offensively,but overall it’s probably the best squad in the league.Whats foyth like? Know nothing about him Apart from him being young.

We will win this 0-3 and Slav will T-bag Sullivan in the changing room after before handing in his resignation all the while with a ciggy hanging from his bottom lip.
It’s the West Ham way!

A few reports today saying that Slav will make wide changes to the team that faced Brighton... for the spuds game...
Seems the Palarse game will be prioritised over Spuds... and because of that the team will be very different from last game....

I don't think I can be arsed with it to be honest, the whole thing about the club makes me depressed
Re: Tottenham Hotspur’s v West Ham United cup match thread
Injured within the first 15 minutes. Was a passenger and could hardly move yet stayed on for the whole game. Either very selfish from Antonio or no balls from Slav to take him off.WorcesterWHU wrote:Watching Antonio on Friday night made me wonder whether he's anywhere near match fit.
