No objections at all if he initially tightens things up at the back and focuses on getting the midfield running and tracking more. We need it. I don't think he's going to sit back and go for 0-0 draws though. We have plenty of attacking talent. Personally, I'm going to go for a 2-1 win for us.

Isn’t he still suspended?Simply Moore wrote:Think they will win 1-0. We will set up defensively going by titbits I’ve heard from Moyes so far and he will learn the hard way that West Ham no matter the personnel no matter the opposition, we just can not sit back and soak up pressure without conceeding.
Likely be Deeney the goal scorer too, around 77th minute or so

Re: Watford v West Ham Utd: match thread
Carl Jenkinson was appalled by Masuaku's performance as a sub against Palace, nothing but mistakes.
I'd consider Arnautovic and Ayew up top in a diamond, pulling wide.
I suspect Moyes will accommodate Lanzini as a wide player, probably with Obiang, Kouyate and Noble as a midfield three. Be interesting to see who he plays on the other side and who plays up front, but I suspect it will be Carroll and then a choice between Arnautovic and Ayew.

Re: Watford v West Ham Utd: match thread
1-0 defeat followed by another week of endless tweets showing the players ‘working hard’ on the training ground.
Gold will tweet to say how great it is we only lose by the odd goal instead of shipping 3s and 4s and they clearly they have chosen the right man. And Carrol will be back after the international break.
This is all after Carroll pulling up in training this Friday.

After careful consideration, I'd probably go with this. Rather than go three at the back to paper over our weaknesses, I'd stick to his preferred formation and hopefully spend the next few weeks working on getting the midfield to take more responsibility for the defensive side of the game.
------------------------Hart
Zabaleta----Collins----Ogbonna----Cresswell
-------Obiang----Kouyate----Noble
-------Lanzini--------------------Ayew
---------------------Carroll------------------
Kouyate could easily slot back into defence at any point to switch to a 3-5-2 if need be.

The centre midfield battle is key, hope Moyes see this as our major weak area and is working on this in training fitness wise and getting them to track back when not in possession.bubbles1966 wrote:So long as we compete, we will win.

The stoke approach is only way to go in this for their 1-0 win at Watford. Stoke gave up the ball,Watford had 70% of it 15 shots on target and got done with a set piece. If you try and go toe to toe with this lot they will rip us to pieces. Killed Chelsea for 60 mins and should have been 4–1 up. Saw Bellamy on the Debate last night,Saying Everton under Moyes playing attractive football was a myth. When he went to Goodison it was get it forward ASAP to fellaini or Cahill. Will be much the same to carroll I suspect. Honestly right now I don’t care how we play just need the 3 pts.

I think you mean 15 shots, 0 on targetbubbles500 wrote:The stoke approach is only way to go in this for their 1-0 win at Watford. Stoke gave up the ball,Watford had 70% of it 15 shots on target and got done with a set piece

Seems you are suggesting we give them the ball and let them have pot shots.bubbles500 wrote:The stoke approach is only way to go in this for their 1-0 win at Watford. Stoke gave up the ball,Watford had 70% of it 15 shots on target and got done with a set piece. .
It seems pretty obvious to me that the more shots you let the other team have, the more likely they are to score.
I see madness written all over this approach.

Re: Watford v West Ham Utd: match thread
wouldnt have arnie anywhere near the starting 11 personally
Re: Watford v West Ham Utd: match thread
In by default in my line up. No Antonio and no Hernandez, I really don't want us to start Carroll, tired of the punt and his static play to be honest.psychoscoredthelot wrote:wouldnt have arnie anywhere near the starting 11 personally

Re: Watford v West Ham Utd: match thread
Think Moyes will go for something solid for this, a bank of four across the back with a very solid core who are able to break out into attack. He will want the full backs to get on and provide crosses and we could see Ayew feeding off of Carroll.

But this is the same for any counter attack plan.If you give up 70% of the ball there is always chance someonecould hit a worldy for 25 yards.Moyes first objective will be not to lose.
