Oddly looking forward to this game, looking forward to see if more and more people get on board with the anti board chants. That will be the best part of our 4-1 defeat.

Given this injury list, there isn't really all the much that Moyes can do - and I personally can't see him being in a rush to change the formation (obviously he's trying to impose some kind of stability and consistency for the players). Changing up and having 4 days to get a new system down isn't going to happen.Hammers1993 wrote: Arnautovic (unknown return date)
Antonio (major doubt for Friday)
Byram (3rd December)
Chicharito (3rd December)
Fonte (20th Jan 2018)
Collins (major doubt for Friday)
Ayew (slight doubt, he only had illness so should be back Friday)
Moyes won't make sweeping changes.
A diamond midfield (as some have suggested) probably suits us on paper given the injuries, but given how wide Leicester like to play I think that would be a serious mistake.
I'd like to see Masuaku and Cresswell both starting on the left side to give a bit of cover against Mahrez
I'd play Kouyate on the right side of central midfield and get him to protect Zabaleta's inside channel.
Hart
Zabaleta - Reid - Ogbonna - Cresswell
Kouyate --- Noble
Ayew ----- Lanzini ----- Masuaku
*Martinez
*Who am I kidding, he'll start Carroll won't he.

If I were Moyes I’d be dropping half the team and playing the players that are putting the effort in. Unfortunately injuries make that difficult but I’d try for something like this.
Adrian
Zabaleta Reid Ogbonna
Antonio Noble Lanzini Masuaku
Ayew Arnautovic
Arnie looked good before his injury, Masuaku deserves to be starting in whatever position we can find, his and Antonio’s our will be important against Leicester.
If injuries mean this team can’t play I’d be throwing some youths in.
Adrian
Zabaleta Rice Ogbonna Cresswell
Noble Makasi
Haksabanovic Lanzini Masuaku
Ayew

Zabaleta Reid Ogbonna
Antonio Noble Lanzini Masuaku
Ayew Arnautovic

We need pace at the back to defend the channels so move Kouyate into the back 3. He's been so poor in midfield anyway. Move Zabaleta into a defensive midfield role next to Fernandes who can be his legs. Bring Haksabanovic and Sakho into the starting line up which will give us more energy and defend from the front
Hart
Kouyate, Reid, Ogbonna,
Antonio, Zabaleta, Fernandes, Masuaku,
Haksabanovic, Lanzini,
Sakho
Subs: Adrian, Rice, Noble, Carroll, Ayew, Quina, Cresswell

I too would bring in young Haksabanovic. We desperately need some energy in that midfield

2 goals from Vardy in a poisonous toxic atmosphere will see Leicester leaving with 3 points and Sky talking about our survival chances while ignoring the hate for the loathsome three some... Again.

Re: West Ham United v Leicester City: Match Thread
A win would put us merely a point behind them (they had a desperate start, the only silver lining being that Vardy scored 5 in their first 5 or so games). There are several poor teams in this season's top flight; we just need to buck the trend and carve out a result.
We're obviously not going to push up from the back against this lot, because Vardy would just eviscerate us in a foot race.
Its a tight 'two banks of four' job, in my eyes, with the upfield pair probably Lanzini and Ayew.
2 new signings are definitely out. Zabaleta has to play, basically, because there's no other right-sided defender. I'd take someone else's cue and give Adrian a run out.

Defeat must, in the minds of the players, be unimaginable.
A draw barely suffices in this match.
Treat it as a cup-final.

I hope our players put up another inept performance lacking in any real effort and that Leicester smash us to pieces.
I hope our fans then do the same to the OS as they scramble to get to the owners.

What exactly is wrong with Antonio? Is it bruised ribs from Brighton game. Will a month on Friday. Surely bruised ribs is about 2 weeks?

I would like to see us go 3 at the back with Kouyate back three - which is the only way I see us keeping this team from scoring 3 goals.

For me Hart has done nothing wrong, but Adrian deserves a chance. Carroll as an impact sub only. Lets see what Martinez can do, what is the worst that can happen, we lose, well...

Leicester know that all they have to do is to score one goal, and the heads will drop. They have 90 min to achieve their goal. Our lads are so nervous, they are bound to make a few costly mistakes.
We need to be lucky. Do you feel lucky?

While I think Creswell has not reached his pre-injury heights, Masuaku flatters to deceive, he has looked good coming on as a sub but when he starts he seems a complete liability at the back. I like his ball control and willingness to run at players so he would have to come on as a winger in front of Creswell.HammerInMaryland wrote:.

we need to change things and get some pace in the team and drop some of the awful performers . we cant drop them all though.
Adrian
zab reid kouyate cresswell
Antonio Fernandez lanzini masuaka
ayew sakho
subs hart obiang noble carroll sakho quinna samuelson
no idea what the score will be but if we don't win I think we are down.

Re: West Ham United v Leicester City: Match Thread
Think we’ll struggle like we always do against them.
Given the injury list not much we can chose from.
Same back five
Rice, Noble, Kouyate and Lanzini in a diamond (Rice sitting)
Ayew and Sakho up top.

Re: West Ham United v Leicester City: Match Thread
Mahrez could destroy a desperately out of form and confidence Cresswell.
Rice into centre mid holding, few errors so far and has switched off a couple of times when picking up a player, but looks composed with ball at feet and always shows for a pass. Plenty have gone hiding recently and don’t want the ball.
Also takes Kouyate and his poor touch / distribution out of midfield, put him in a back three.
Sakho up top for his running which gives an out ball (if he’s trying), Lanzini in behind, but also dropping into a midfield central three when needed.
