West Ham United 1-0 Chelsea (09/12/17)
Just about 48 hours to go and still no match thread?
I fancy a point or three here. No particular reason, but just think our luck might finally be changing.
The bunker mentality demonstrated at The Etihad needs to be re-deployed.
My personal preference would be for Adrian to be rewarded with another start, but, if its Joe, we need to work to protect him from what, in reality, will be shooting practice for 3 or 4 Chelsea players.
Not sure what the situation is for Kouyate, because, if both he and Noble are unavailable, there seems to be a dearth of players with proper experience in the middle of the park. This would play into Chelsea's hands.
Sod it, lets be realistic. We need to not lose this one. How we go about it will involve grit, sweat and probably luck in equal measure.

KO time is wrong on the home page UTJ
Sat 9/12

Sadly can't see anything other than another loss here. Would be great to see a spirited performance again but let's be honest, Cheslea are way too strong for us.

Half decent performance against Man City followed by another half decent performance against Chelsea.
0-3

Can't see anything other than a comfortable win for Chelsea here.
Hazard coming into the game bang in form.

A nice big pitch with lots of space for their quality to destroy us like the majority of big teams do to us at 'home'
Re: West Ham -United -v- Chelsea Match Thread
Adrian to start, 0-0 and a post-match strop from Conte.

Going to be a tough one.
Hazard seems to be on the rise again & will cause havoc in our midfield. Kante/Drinkwater provide the protection whilst he runs us ragged. The Azpilicueta/Morata link seems to be flourishing so if we can put a stop to that then maybe it will be a bit prettier.
Think we could be seeing 1-4. Another set piece goal for us before Chelsea turn it up a notch.
Shame, really. Would love us to go out and grab a couple of goals & take the game to them. Instead, I think it's going to be Antonio isolated upfront, running around like a madman.

They start as huge favourites for this one but who knows if we get behind our lot.
will need some pace and need to get hold of hazard and moses on the wing
assuming kouyate and noble are injured
Adrian

I am much more optimistic after Sunday's showing at Citeh. Really hope I'm wrong but can only see one more point before Xmas, a draw v Newcastle.....as said, really hope I'm wrong.

Match them toe to toe for 65 mins then fade and get stuffed.
Or, are we improving our fitness whereby itll be 66 mins
1-3

A couple of quick questions.....does anyone know what time the open air bars & food stalls outside the stadium will be open from roughly?
And I'm meeting a chelsea supporting mate after the game. Are they funnelled somewhere else after? I never seem to bump into away fans after the game on the way back to the station, so I'm not sure where they go.

Fabregas will be assisting the officials at every opportunity, I'm sure.

Hate to say it but we need to kick seven shades of **** out of Hazard. Get them limping and whinging early.
We won't though. Hopefully getting in their faces for 60 minutes will be enough to get a point. But I doubt it.

we won't get in their faces though. we will close ranks and hang on for dear life, punting it down to whoever has the still has the legs to attempt to win a corner.hammernsickle wrote:We won't though. Hopefully getting in their faces for 60 minutes will be enough to get a point. But I doubt it.

Cant see anything other than another 3 or 4 goal thrashing.
I felt we would score against City which we did, but I ant see us even creating a worthwhile chance v Chelsea.

Hart dropped apparantly according to Henry winter. So most likely true.

Re: West Ham -United -v- Chelsea Match Thread
We can beat these...saw enough against Citeh to give more than just a glimmer of hope - mix that with some passionate Home support; some of the rub of the footballing Gods so often enjoyed by the plastics and we will turn these over. I like the fact not much is coming out of the training ground and I am gaining in more confidence that Moyes is getting his message into the collective brain cell of the squad. Fitter, faster, stronger, enthusiastic and well drilled.
2–1 and a well deserved lift off
