Rumour doing the rounds that as well as Luiz & Drinkwater , Morata has also picked up a knock , just need Hazard to drop a glass on his foot and we might get a draw , 18th century football and park the bus 0-0
Re: West Ham -United -v- Chelsea Match Thread
Whoever they put out will be quality. Obviously, Hazard worries me most. He will occupy that space where we don't have a DM capable of tracking him (who does?) We will defend in depth and (thanks to Moyes) some organisation but someone will trip him up outside the box and give away a free-kick or he'll dance through and get a pen.cockney farmer wrote:Rumour doing the rounds that as well as Luiz & Drinkwater , Morata has also picked up a knock , just need Hazard to drop a glass on his foot and we might get a draw , 18th century football and park the bus 0-0

For me, the signs of progress will not necessarily be in the result but in the performance. If we get beat but go down fighting to a much better team, will be a sign of progress because that will be 2 matches in a row - something that we have yet really to achieve this season.
I enjoyed the City game. If I enjoy tomorrows game I will be happy.

Article on the OS says Moyes wants players on form...
Should see Adrian keep his place
Noble should come in for Kouyate
Masuaku on the left wing

I can't say I'm a fan of the long ball game. There is always the inherent danger that by booting it a distance, you greatly risk giving possession away if the big dope(usually) you're aiming for, doesn't win it, keep it, pass it or score from it.
However, if you play it against N'golo Kante, you virtually take him out of the game. He ends up running around, chasing shadows. Perhaps it would also be quite effective against Hazard. One thing's for sure, if you try to play through them, it probably won't end well.
They obviously have some very good players but if you get your organisation & tactics right, they're not unbeatable.
Big IF.

Only 4 pages so far for a Chelsea game? I've been offered tickets, just put one up on the forum and there seems a real apathy for such a crucial firebrand game.
This is going down one of two ways later - heroically or like a bowl of sick. A loud and proud crowd or a lot of pisstaking and angst.
If fit I hope he picks:
..........................Adrian
............Rice........Reid..........Ogbonna
Zab............Obiang.......Noble.......Cresswell
............Ayew.......Lanzini.......Mad Arnie

Certainly agree with you about modern Chelsea. Back in the sixties though Chelsea and West Ham were similar types of club. Both teams flattered to deceive, produced lots of good players (which they sold) and won a couple of cups. Happy memories of the old Stamford bridge (particularly seeing us beat Ipswich in a blizzard in the 1975 semi-final replay). The ground was a dump though, but held about 60000.Macca1973 wrote:I hate losing to this lot more than anyone. They are the ones that started the slide that has become modern football, they are a nothing club with no history, no class and no dignity. They champion racists and cheats as heros. They are everything that is wrong with football. From Abramovich at the top, through sh*tbag players like Terry and Fabregas right down to their Neanderthal supporters.
I really hope we are bang up for this and just have a feeling we are due a bit of luck and an unlikely, morale boosting result.

I have a spare and I literally couldn't give it away. Someone has taken it last minute but it was a struggle.Doc H Ball wrote:Only 4 pages so far for a Chelsea game? I've been offered tickets, just put one up on the forum and there seems a real apathy for such a crucial firebrand game.
Chelsea at home is my favourite fixture, had some great memories over the years.
When Carroll headed in the winner from the bench was a particular highlight and when they won 1-0 to basically win the league at Upton Park was even a great game.
Couldn't be less interested in tomorrow

Should see Adrian keep his place
Noble should come in for Kouyate
Masuaku on the left wing
If that is the case, Ayew and Arnautovic should be in the running for the 2 Wing/Forward positions.

I think we should all be encouraged by City.
Sadly we now play at the toilet bowl where Chelsea and indeed any other team will have the freedom to run riot.
The irony here is that the cost of relegation will probably cost the club more money than it might have to build a proper stadium instead of trying to do it on the cheap!

What is he blabbing on about...

How the f*** did Bilic ever pick up results or gave good tough games against the same mob with Hazard in it without having a super marker in our Team during the past 2 season's running? Not that I think man marking as a tactic on Hazard in particular would work anyway, as he's too good to wriggle out of any shadow detailed on him in the game to stop him.
Such a one dimensional dinosaur.

Another performance like against City and we stand a chance. Anything less and it could get ugly.
Park the bus in front of Adrian's wall.

Don’t think I’ve ever been so under whelmed about a London derby in my life. Seriously struggling to stay motivated.... and it’s bloody cold. Might just stay on the train and go back home!
