Can’t top that gaffer - other than nothing less than a 2 goal spread minimum will suffice..Up the Junction wrote:The two Uniteds clash, nothing less than three points will suffice after we threw the Cup game.

I like that starting 11 too. I think Arnie has enough creativity to play that position, but he was exceptional as a forward against stoke.Vienna wrote:Adrian
Reid Ogbonna Creswell

My take:
Adrian
Collins Ogbonna Creswell
Zabaleta Obiang Noble Masuaku
Hakšabanović
Chicharito Arnautovic
I would love to see Arnie and Chicha link up.

At last I can view KUMB without HM f***ing V making it impossible.
We are not (playing like) the same team that they beat in August & I will be very disappointed if it's not 3 points for us.
AND at least the players have had a rest since Stoke.

West Ham on the up and Newcastle having not won a league game in nine worries me that we'll be THAT team that we always are and slip up. Nothing but three points in this won to really kick on.

I know what you mean as Tuesday pissed me off too, but we are on a decent run of form and this is a real test for Moyes as clearly he has prioritised this match over the Arsenal game.Colours never run wrote:I was looking forward to the game, but after last nights pitiful effort for the sake of this game, I don't think I give much of a **** if this is what it's come too.
Good luck to all those that are excited about it though. I just feel like I'm just going through the motions.
I'm definitely up for it. We have played well in a home game against a team below us in the league about once or twice in the last year, so it's about time the team got a performance and result for us against beatable opposition.
However, without Lanzini it might be more of a grind. I can see a 2-1 in our favour.

Pointless tripe. If we end up in the championship we'll have more chance of lifting a cup? Is that what it is?

Huge game for us.
A win would take us 5 points clear of the relegation places and we can start looking up instead of over our shoulders. Time to forget the midweek game and move on, it's not ideal, I'd like us to have given it a bit more of a go but it's not like he put out a team of kids and we didn't have many other options. I'm fully behind Moyes now after being fuming at his appointment and think he is doing a good job. Down to us to get behind the lads on Saturday because the Geordies definitely will!

Agree Stu
We have to move forward. You have to plan for the season ahead and everything it encompasses.
Big 3 points on offer if our thin squad can cope.
There was no one else really to call on unless you wanted Carroll at right back. This just shows the true unbalanced nature of our squad. Arnie needed a break.
Feel for the 7000 but with football (unlike the opera) you cannot guarantee your going to see the best available players unfortunately. If you buy tickets to the Cara Cup you know there is a good chance you'll only see half a team.

I think you should, I will applaud you from a distancehammers92 wrote:Can I wear a full West Ham kit Saturday, socks, shin pads, boots, the lot and run through Westfield shouting West Ham songs on their busiest day of the year?
As others have said, got be 3 points after the friendly this week, if we get it, it will make up 2.3% of the anger we still have.

Re: West Ham Utd v Newcastle Utd: match thread
I fully expect to see barely any changes for this game.
Adrian returns in goal, Zabaleta replaces Collins, Arnie and Antonio in for Quina and Ayew.
Only 4 changes from the ‘reserve/youth’ team we allegedly put out against Arsenal.

Re: West Ham Utd v Newcastle Utd: match thread
Newcastle are a team that I've always been happy enough to split the overall points between us in a season. And after our worse than dismal performance there, we really do need to win this one.
Re: West Ham Utd v Newcastle Utd: match thread
Think they could be the relegation 'yardstick' this season.
Finish above them and you'll probably be okay. Below them and strong chance of going down.
Win Sat and we are 5 points clear of them. That's a decent buffer.

we need at least 7 points from the next 3 games. I dont care which order they come....just must not lose to give us a good chance of survival.

Re: West Ham Utd v Newcastle Utd: match thread
Lots of options for this one.
Hard to argue against the same line-up as Stoke, but Newcastle don't have the same big lumps up front so Reid has to get back in for Collins - more mobile.
Cresswell was beaten to headers a couple of times by Crouch (no surprise there) but I'd still have him in if Masuaku is up ahead - works well.
Hernandez has to start along with Arnie and Antonio for a front three - I'd be happy slotting Hernandez right in where Lanzini sits. Best option by a mile.
Rice - and this was a good thing - was largely anonymous vs Stoke - a couple of misplaced passes right in the centre of the pitch but did very well tracking back and marking their midfield. So Rice starts again.
Tactics-wise we'll see both teams parking the proverbial bus. Best football we've played this season is clearly on the break so patience will be the order of the day and yet again we'll have to see if we can nick a couple of goals after hurtling down the pitch as fast as our collective little legs can carry us.
Won't be pretty but if we're lucky we'll see a couple of goals on the break to end what might largely be 90 minutes of monotony
