Armie’s out as is Cress apparently. Hart will play for Adrian. So that’s 3 definite changes to that side.Doc H Ball wrote:I would play a strong team, rest nobody and go for them.
Our biggest problem is in having nobody else to play RB absent Zab. If he plays Cresswell there, I might go shopping for carpet tiles instead.

Re: Shrewsbury Town F.C. v West Ham United: Match thread
God knows precisely how we blend it, but Shrewsbury's staff have got to be at least a little surprised by the line up. We've been on the telly so often recently, that they've scouted us in their sleep.
Hart is a given.
At least one of Burke or Oxford in defence.
At least one of Rice or Cullen (why not both?) in defensive midfield.
At least one of Quina or Makasi in attacking midfield, or up and wide, and
Why not give Martinez a run out, perhaps alongside Ayew?
4 youngsters amongst older heads, but with the added usefulness of Burke/Cullen/Martinez having experience against teams of this nature.
It will be tight. It may even be entertaining. Isn't that what cup football is supposed to represent?

Re: Shrewsbury Town F.C. v West Ham United: Match thread
there is no way Moyes will play the team above. He's already said the FA Ciup is not the priority.
I expect at least Rice, Quina, Haksabanovic and possible Martinez to play, Matinez an outsider as neither Chicha or Ayew have played a lot of football.
Zaba I reckon will get a rest. I'd expect the following:
Hart .... Ogbonna, Rice, Reid .... Haksbanavic, Quina, Noble, Obiang, Ayew .... Chicha, Martinez
He may rest Kouyate as he's been carrying a knock.
Bench Adrian, Carroll, Lanzini, Zaba, Johnson, another academy player

Ahhh, that's told me to concentrate a little more closely on the fringe of the squad.
Cheers.

I would be really pissed off if we played a weakened side. No excuse, treat the game, cup and opposition with respect.
Our only chance of success these days is a cup run, give it a go for our long suffering fans.
As good as the point was on spursday, I'm still seething about the league cup. Sad state of affairs just proving why modern football and everything that goes with it is rubbish..
A new ground to tick off the list ... Though I fear a cup exit.

Too true. The game isn't as special as it was 20 years ago and beyond. But its how it is.The Sherriff wrote:I would be really pissed off if we played a weakened side. No excuse, treat the game, cup and opposition with respect.

Personally Id like to see two or three on the cusp get a run out with a view to better league prospects.

Looking forward to tomorrow, a bit like Hartlepool a few years ago or even Cheltenham this season. A new ground to see us at. The irony is, if we were to go down and they get promoted we’d play them next year anyway!

While I agree that the FA cup needs to be respected, we cannot overlook the fact that we have played 2 games in the last few days, and have a growing injury list. It would be silly of us not to rest some of the players!

Remember both my previous trips to Shrewsbury (think we've only been there twice?), one 2-0 win and a 0-3 humbling in the season we won the cup.
So i'm going for an unwanted draw tomorrow.

The amount of people asking for Quina in astounds me... You saw him at Arsenal right? He is no where near ready for first team football - even against League 1 opposition.
I’m not saying he won’t be a player (we don’t know that either way yet). But he is in need of games with the other kids and then some time in the gym and next year a loan to lower league to try to get to grips with the physical element of men’s football.

From the BBC preview of Boltons game today:
Bolton are without four midfielders as they prepare to face Premier League side Huddersfield in the FA Cup.
Darren Pratley (broken leg) and Karl Henry (hamstring) are out, Josh Vela is ill and Josh Cullen has been recalled.

Think we will lose 1-0 and there will be much jizzing and rejoicing among the BBC pundits as a result.

I don't think so. It will be tough, but normally what happens in these fixtures when a team that is flying in its own league, plays an out of form, struggling Premier League team, the lower league team takes the league, but with time running out, they concede a corner or something and either a defender cannot clear his lines, or the keeper ****'s up and they concede either an own goal, or the Premier League team nick a scrappy equaliser and then in time added on, get a winner. This happens time and again in these matches and it will happen today somewhere and is probably what will happen it our game too. These teams get away with defensive mix ups in their own league, but against superior opposition, they don't

need to rest a few players as injuries mount up. the next 5 league games gives us a chance to get well clear of the relegation zone.

.
We just threw a quarter final against a weakened Arsenal side that was truly winnable, our best available XI would have won that game.
I think that’s the marker that this game won’t be taken seriously.
Moyes’s contract and bonuses will be based on staying up and keeping Sullivan’s gravy train rolling... nothing more
The blame as always is at the foot of the owners
Re: Shrewsbury Town F.C. v West Ham United: Match thread
Trouble is many of those players probably don't know each other let alone played together. A team with too many changes will get beat at Shrewsbury. They are a good team not to be underestimated.hammerman11 wrote:need to rest a few players as injuries mount up. the next 5 league games gives us a chance to get well clear of the relegation zone.

I think I read that further up the thread, but its only that I was going on...
Re: Shrewsbury Town F.C. v West Ham United: Match thread
original loan deal for Burke & Cullen was only five months.
This from whufc.com at the time:
West Ham United can confirm that Reece Burke and Josh Cullen have joined Championship club Bolton Wanderers on a five-month loan agreement.
