Re: West Ham Utd v Shrewsbury Town: match thread
Didn't look like losing but lacked that bit of quality on the ball at times.
Especially from wide, the full backs had numerous opportunities to sling in a chest height ball across the box to be attacked.
Shouldn't be thinking about offloading any strikers this month, as very often they all seem to get injured at the same time.
Moved seats at half time to get a different view compared to my normal position which is right at the back near the halfway way, and was pleased to say the upper tier in the corner was not bad. Sick and tired of sitting next to a different tourist every match.

It was bloody cold tonight , I still haven't warmed up properly and I've been home an hour .Much more of this and the heating will need to go on .

Some games have been boring, some haven’t.Olliek92 wrote:]
We had a couple of good runs under Fat Sam, too. Snore fest, bring back Bilic.
In our last 6 league games we’ve scored 15 goals, despite playing away 4 times......let that sink in.

Quite agree - one of the weirdest atmosphere's there has been at the OS, and i have only missed one game here since we moved. No noise what soever until the the end of the second half, the group in front of us did not even appear to know the words to 'Bubbles', and they weren't even Swedish! However, it was good that so many clearly new to the OS took advantage of the massive general sale and kids for a quid, whether they will be back after that performance is another matter. Thought we played within ourselves, although some might see that as a generous analysis. As a team, Shrewsbury, whose fans by the way were excellent, never really threatened in numbers in and near our box. I thought Pedro was excellent tonight, keeping the youngsters together. Having said that, Reece Oxford was easily the worst player on the pitch, god knows what has happened to him since that performance in Aug 2016, was it that long ago, against Arsenal.Blow Bubbles wrote:Home. That was a weird one...

Pretty much sums it up for me. Would add that I thought Martinez worked hard, ran the channels well, and linked up play effectively. Cullen was tidy again.hammerdivone wrote: Shrewsbury deserve credit for defending well and sticking to their game plan.
We had a few players like Obiang , Ayew and Masuaku not on their game today which was disappointing and meant we couldn't open them up. Oxford and Byram understandably looked rusty.
But still good game time for the youngsters
Re: West Ham Utd v Shrewsbury Town: match thread
Not a great game by any stretch of the imagination but a win (eventually) thought burke did really well all game and cullen did ok but seems terrified to play a forward pass. Oxford and byram both expectedly looked a bit rusty. The game changed when arnoutavic came on but im not sure if he was really good or just average but a huge upgrade on ayew (who was terrible tonight).

Noble and especially Arnoutovic turned the game round. Ogbonna and Obiang were excellent. Lanzini played well, I thought. Oxford had a game to forget.
Coldest night yet at the OS
What was all that with the police blocking roads to Stratford High St?

No space telly here either - unusual cos I can usually get almost any match anywhere . . . imagine the economics of West Ham vs Shrews on PPV was just too much of a black hole . . .
Nevertheless, congrats to Jedward on his first goal.

As much as we had 120 minutes of football, Bournemouth have to travel to Wigan and have a days less rest than we do. Thats if Howe plays a strong side of course.

Pleased for Burke, you can see it meant a lot to him.
