People on here saying sacrifice this game for Palace
Honest question, people with that mindset why follow football? For the big final-day play-off final between us and Everton to see who finishes 11th?! Bizarre.

let's hope they fare better together than they did in the previous round at Shrewsbury when it looked like they had never met each other beforeEl Brooko wrote:I would also say that we are going to be relying on Hernandez and Ayew for the next month.
Playing them together in a game that (with all respect) we should be able to dominate and create chances might help in the long run for both confidence and understanding.

I would play Martinez and Hernandez together. I really don't think Ayew works well with Hernandez.

To be honest and not to slag the bloke off, but against Shrewsbury in the replay, Ayew just seem to be everywhere but with no end product. Now go and prove me wrong and shut me up Andre and bang a couple in!EastBrisHammer wrote:I would play Martinez and Hernandez together. I really don't think Ayew works well with Hernandez.

Say yes, but with a caveat that you are allowed to design next seasons kit.sutts07 wrote:Just been sent an email from the club asking if I would like to play up front for the day.

'Should' gets knocked over by recent evidence.El Brooko wrote:I would also say that we are going to be relying on Hernandez and Ayew for the next month.

They might have played together at Shrewsbury, but they looked like complete and utter strangers, for 90 minutes.

What's Adrian like out on pitch? We might need him at this rate.
Can see us going out here. We'll have to play a lot of the kids because we'll have no choice.

I just cannot get my head around not playing your best possible 11 for a professional football match.
When did this belief of 'throwing' one game mean that we were expected to get a result in the next one. Why not try and win both with the best 11 players available.
The last three games we have played a weakened team in cup game:
0-1 Arsenal and next game lose at home to Newcastle
0-0 shrewsbury - another 90 mins in replay
0-0 shrewsbury - extra 30 mins extra team for 1st teamers then draw 1-1 with Bournemouth
If we put a reserve team out vs Wigan and lose I don't think we in a better position for Palace even with our rested 'stars'

I miss-read your post then,Nick Sneddon wrote:

As with all our forward players, they need a bit of luck here and there.
Re: Wigan Athletic v West Ham Utd: FA Cup 4th rnd match thread
The state we are in numbers wise he wont be able to risk whoever has the worst strain or knock.
Expect to see one of Obiang, Kouyate, Noble make way for Cullen.
Other than that it will be whoever is fit. Byram for Zab (on bench). Or even Byram in front of Zab.
That is it .... there is nobody else ...... (no 'stars' to rest they are all injured !)

Hart
Burke Ogbonna Rice
Byram Noble Cullen Masuaku
Haksabanovic
Martinez Chicharito
That team should be enough to beat Wigan.
Rice has shown he’s good enough in the premiership,
Burke was wanted by Wigan and is wanted by Bolton so should be a level above them.
Cullen was awesome in league one last year and is wanted back by Bolton, again a league above Wigan.
Haksabanovic has played men’s football before in what was a similar standard, he’ll be chomping at the bit to prove his worth.
Martinez needs to start showing why his scoring record is so good in the reserves, did okay for Oxford last year, feel his a striker that needs chances made for him so hopefully Byram, Masuaku and Haksabanovic can supply him, and Cullen and Noble can hit some nice passes forward

Without taking a position on the benefits of resting players or otherwise, we've seen a pretty good example of why people suggest this just this week – Moyes said after the Bournemouth game that he thought the 120 mins against Shrewsbury probably contributed to Lanzini's injury. Arnautovic played about 60 mins too iirc.3 Hopes wrote:I just cannot get my head around not playing your best possible 11 for a professional football match.

I've long thought the fitness training for footballers is wrong.
The sheer number of muscle tears is ridiculous. Knee and ankle injuries I can understand (although the carpet like pitches should reduce some of those).
Young men should NOT be pulling muscles so often . Managers blame too many games  but the reason must be the gym work etc. Far too muscle bound .

Professional footballers are certainly not too muscle bound.
