I didn't see the Wigan game but I thought he was fairly decent tonight, bar one chance where he was on his heels a bit and Tomkins managed to clear it. Considering that we lump the ball up to him more often then not he's on a hiding to nothing most of the time. But he at least showed effort tonight, had some good touches, link up play and passing and was unlucky with his snapshot header. He made the assist for the pen and also put Super Mario in on goal early on with a header don't forget. Bit harsh to single him out tonight imhoBlow Bubbles wrote:Which brings me to our only weak link tonight, the ungrateful, lazy, flat footed premadonna. If we had any other fit forwards, they would all be ahead of him and he is a massive disappointment.
This lack of service nonsense is just that for me - Mario, who should be much less match fit, racing past him to close down the keeper towards the end is case and point.

Pathetic really isn't it? Earns in a week more than most people get in a year and can't even be arsed to turn up on time.davids cross wrote:David Moyes -

Fairly decent game considering our ravaged squad. Credit to Moyes for that.
Congrats to Noble for the 50th goal. Zabaleta played well.
Had Hernandez’s header gone in we’d have been in dreamland.
Fonte (properly) and I’m assuming Antonio to return. Squad starts to beef out a bit.

We must have been watching a different game Irrons. Opinions eh!
I saw a player hanging onto the ball too long, waiting for a touch to go down. He got lucky with what from further away might have looked like ‘skill’ - he fell over his own feet!
But even if I’m wrong on all that, his lack of effort and deciding not to make runs is inexcusable.

Such a boring game. Palace could’ve taken us apart if they had any b*llocks

I agree. I’ve no idea about the stats but we looked pretty good considering, pressed well and definitely were playing to win. Palace time wasted a lot and would IMHO have been happier with the draw. I was pleased to see Chico having a go, he looked motivated and happy to be playing for WHU. COYICrouchend_Hammer wrote:

Yes you watched a completely different game Blow Bubbles. Hernandez put in a shift tonight. Linked up well with Mario at times. Played a couple of very good passes when outside of the box. He was decent.

I concur - those stats are obviously right, but it didn’t seem that low. We were the better team and deserved to win in my opinion. We snuffed out most of their attacking intent. I thought Byram played well.

Agreed with this. He was awful at Wigan but a vast improvement tonight.il_martello_di_genovesi wrote:Yes you watched a completely different game Blow Bubbles. Hernandez put in a shift tonight. Re: West Ham Utd v Crystal Palace: match thread
Just look at the penalty incident. He was fouled after making an intelligent run. He made that run because he had someone to play off who was willing to make that pass. I'm not going to defend him for every performance, but plenty have been due to being frustrated upfront alone. I think he probably gained confidence from that. He looked more dangerous, and put in a good shift. That header into Mario early on was a great bit of play between the two also.Blow Bubbles wrote:Really can’t see it but sounds like I’m wrong on this one...
The whole team worked their b*llocks off tonight. The 2nd half wasn't pretty from either team, but was good to see that given what we had available they were all up for it. We need a couple of reinforcements for sure. Having Antonio (if he actually cared) or another attack minded player to come off the bench might have given us the edge. I don't think Palace looked all that great at all.

Re: West Ham Utd v Crystal Palace: match thread
I thought no-one could be criticised for effort this evening. Hernandez did some silly things but to my mind it was chalk and cheese from his cup performances. He has to learn that he is at a different United and what he got away with with the referees by falling over at the Manchester version is now less likely to work.
Really impressed with Mario, vision composure and stronger than I expected.
Zaba is the ultimate professional, different position but knuckles down and does his job.
If soccer was like American football and had specialist kickers Noble might get a job until he was 60, such composure over the penalty. Since the change to the 3 at the back he has seemed to have rediscovered some of his best form.
That said for me Kouyate was head and shoulders man of the match. What looked a nasty knock early yet he ran and ran, bringing the ball out of defence several times. Pass leading up to the penalty excellent. With 20 minutes to go he was holding his ankle and looking pretty dead on his feet yet still he carried on. It seemed to epitomise the whole spirit thing the team had going tonight. A deal of credit has to go to Moyes who game by game seems more and more a top appointment.

Played ok tonight under difficult circumstances. I think Mario looks a class above our lot and Noble seemed to benefit from playing with someone on a higher level.Such a shame our owners are such lying, thieving c**** because we could do quite well with the right input of players.

Re: West Ham Utd v Crystal Palace: match thread
nothing to complain about for effort from the eleven on the pitch. stands to reason that a draw away at palace was considered a disaster but a draw at home was considered a minor victory, but that's not on any of their heads.
nobes continues to look outstanding.
it'll either be the best result in that we got something out of it, but not enough to put us clear of the mire to mean that sullivan feels safe, or the worst result in that it was a gritty enough performance to put the dusty chequebook away but without the three points to show for it.

I thought Hernandez did well with precious little service. A gutsy performance from everyone against a decent side imo.

Zaha was always a danger, but I though we handled him well (collectively, that is.. )
If they can get Loftus-Cheek back, I think they will score enough goals to stay up.
