From Saintsweb, which right now looks like Depression Central

Not wanting to put a dampener on a good performance but Southampton are the worst side I have seen at “our” place this season (title previously held by Huddersfield).

Jittery Joe didn’t have a shot worthy of the name to save all game, but dealt with what came at him well enough.

Well the trip to Miami paid off anyway.

Wouldn't it be lovely if after you being **** at work your company took you on holiday to "refresh" you?

Outside of all the mess behind the scenes, which I'm sure will be rolled out as the biggest reason, it really does baffle me how this group of players can one week be so lazy, lethargic and unprofessional, and then on another bust a gut and put a shift in.

Can't even blame the manager because it has happened under both Slav and Moyes.

From all accounts Koyate decided to play for us this week and actually earn his salary.

As much as I'm overjoyed with the result, performances like this also really piss me off.

I was thinking this.

We got out of the blocks really early and stuck it to them, after the first goal there was only one winner, they were abject. You could see how knackered our players were in the last half hour but they were utterly toothless. They looked like a beaten team that were already down, not one that could still fight out of it.

I would have preferred to have seen Hugill on a but earlier as Arnie was shot (having run about like a lunatic to be fair) but that was a small blot against the result

On another note, Mark Hughes must be sick of the sight of Arnautovic since he left him.

That's back to back MotM displays and 3 goals against him now.

f*** him.

Great first half, lots of positives

Slightly boring second half which was disappointing but maybe expected.

On that note I wonder did we naturally mentally take the foot off the gas or was it a premeditated tactic.

On 60 mins Hart was telling the ball boys not to give the ball back and slow down which made me think about the above, also Masuaku looked to be holding back in the second half.

That’s being picky I know, great football in the first half

Agree with that..after such a good performance 1st half, I’m thinking go get 4, 5..maybe 6...humiliate them and make it a real power performance. We didn’t do that..got back into the easy street rhythm that has so often let us down. We deserved to see a thoroughly committed 2nd half and got half measures. That’s a mind set problem we seem to have, we need a ruthless streak.

I love seeing Arnie smiling. He's a class player when his mood is right. And it has been for a lot of the season.
Beat Stoke & I think we're alright, drop-wise.
However, it's been an AWFUL season & how bad must WBA, Stoke & now Soton/Palace be, for us to avoid the drop?

How many teams have said that about us this season. Let's take what we can get.

Went down after taking a shot, untouched by any opponent.
Looked like a hamstring. He walked off in tears.

Was it Mark Hughes that Marko was gesturing the crossed hammers sign to after scoring his first goal ? :)

No love lost there .

Only seen the highlights, so perhaps an attendee can confirm...was Kouyate playing to that standard all game? He had a clear hand in each of our goals and looked like he was striding around midfield as if he owned it outright. Great stuff.
