A win for us and i think that will be us safe for another season, but i think it will be 1 -1, always fancy us to score these days. Carroll on the bench?, he will get a splinter in his arse, it will turn septic and he will be out for the rest of the season!
Must win? With the weekend's results, I reckon a draw would see us safe.
A point puts us 7 points clear of Soton who have 5 to play and 8 clear of Stoke with 4 to play. We have 4 to play - and granted 3 are against top 6 sides, but it is also end of season and the champions league places / champions probably decided. So we ought to pick up a couple more points. I don't think either of those two teams will catch us. If soton had beaten Chelsea, as they deserved to, Id be feeling different...
That doesn't mean we should play for a point. It does mean that we shouldn't go all out and risk leaving gaps at the back...
Tactically, that would mean looking to play rapid breaks - with Masuaku, Arnie and chicharito. But for e.g. Noble and Kouyate not over-committing in support. Pretty much what we were doing against Saints.
If we win this one, I think we will be safe and Stoke will be down. The first goal will be very important, if we get it, I would expect their heads to drop and the floodgates to open.
Expect us to fly out of the gates and dump pressure on them the first 15min or so, really pressing to get the early goal. If we can, it will be absorb and counter. If we can’t, I think we will play hoofball, keep it out of our defensive third, back off and probably come undone in the 70th. First few minutes of this are going to be critical
We will be on fire from the first and will be 3 up at Half time. We will leave the stadium scratching our heads thinking how on earth can we play like that at the end of a terrible season and be full of optimism for next season.
Come back and tell me how awesome I am on Tuesday for seeing it coming.
