Depends on the ref, last time AC played for us, late 90's I think, the refs were giving a lot of fouls against him, more so than normal for what appeared to be "just" jumping. Happy to be told differently, but there did seem a lot of fouls he was pulled up for, that previously wasn't.only1post wrote:It would be handy having big Andy on the bench.
If we are defending a lead and they call on Crouch, my first action as manager would be bring on the geordie and match them up at corners/dead balls.

Johnson?? Where has that come from? Do you really think this is a game for a kid who has never been involved with the first team?hammerman11 wrote:might be Collins if he is fit or move zab there and play Johnson ?
Re: West Ham United v Stoke City: Match Thread
We batter them 5-1, Hernandez starts and gets a hat-trick.

It was, as ever, a testing long weekend, but Andy Carroll is once again reborn.
As an impact sub, if needed, against Stoke, he can get his eye in.
Just in time for some rough house against his favourite opponents, Arsenal.

Hard to believe that our match thread for the NEXT game is at the bottom of the page. Is nobody at KUMB interested in the football any more?

.
I’ve had an email from the hospitality offering discounts for all the ‘private’ lounges. Seems they are having trouble getting their new shiny fans & Saachi friends to spend their corporate expenses at the world class stadium.
This will cause them (and investors) great concern and I only hope that a lot of SC holders will not renew or at the very least wait until the last minute. This is where it hurts them, not the money but the fact interest is in decline and their adamant belief in the move and ignoring of the loyal core fan base is not working after all.

There's a whole weekend prior to the game for Andy to navigate himself through before we see him on the bench, so I wouldn't count my chickens.
I'd focus on keeping him fitness test standard fit, just in case Conte has still lost the plot and wants to buy him again.

Being On a Monday Night [Evening Match] under the lights at the Bowl, is going to help us, and I think the crowd will be well up for this one - add in the "Arnie" factor and 'Im looking forward to this one a lot - have never liked Stoke - since as a 7 year old nipper they broke my Heart when I read the back page of my Dads newspaper at 7am the morning after they beat us in the league cup Semi Final replay -1972? with Bobby in goal
First goal and we win this at a canter.
so Arnie hat trick please - plenty of crossed hammer celebrations in front of the inbreds!

That would be worse for them than it would for us.BondsoBob wrote:I reckon a boring 0-0 or 1-1. We will limp over the line.
We have had two very good results, but then false dawn seems to be the recurring them of this season (probably most seasons).

The fact that we have arsenal away city at home and Leicester away makes this a must win game.as can only see the odd point from those 3.
Then we have man utd and everton at home so possibly 3 points on last game of the season.
we will be safe but I would rather not leave it too late !
a must win game

The West Ham way would be to lose this
Have no idea what will happen, two teams still with fragile confidence. First goal wins probably.

They might get a draw but we'll probably win, assuming the team is roughly what we think it is.
We've been in very solid form since December but had a hiccup at Swansea and v Burnley.
Swansea was largely about circumstances - a hugely depleted team, the beast from the east etc; Burnley played rope-a-dope.

Too much fire power for them surely?!
Magician's like Lanzini, Mario and Masuaku laying it on a plate for Marko every 10 minutes! Hernandez to come off the bench, which is what he is best at to be honest.

Moyes says that Lanzini is only re-starting training this weekend, at the earliest (last night's Standard), so its bench, at best, for him, I'd have thought.Lord Zoltan wrote:Too much fire power for them surely?!

Anything less than a win is unacceptable. That’s it. If we can be 9 points clear of the drop with this game week done then I’ll start believing we are actually staying up.
