TBH, I didn't think Hugill looked too bad today. He seemed sprightly enough and his touch was far better than the horror stories I'd heard from the Dagenham friendly.

Can imagine he could be a bit Bellamy-ish,

I didn’t see these for sale anywhere, and didn’t see anyone carrying one. A bloke asked me to get one for him but I couldn’t find one anywhere, even in the club shop after the game. I did see half & half scarves though :)

Game sounds like the usual fare so no big deal, main thing is avoiding serious injuries.

Had a report back that Pellegrini didn't bother to acknowledge the travelling support at the end. Shame if true, costs nothing and only takes a few seconds out of his day.

Holland looked OK from what I saw. Not concerned about the ‘travelling support’, the game wasn’t about them.

its a pre season warm up game. designed to put tactics into place. who cares if we lose them all as long as we are ready for Liverpool !

new players are obviously arriving soon so we will have a better team . I will judge us after 10 games of the season .

We can't start the new season without digging up this old pearler. In the 1985/86 season, now over 30 years ago, ' We lost all our pre season matches'

shows how they are no reflection on how the team will do. obviously I want to see us be tight defensively and win games but its all about fitness levels and team shape. two areas we have been lacking in.
so no need to panic just enjoy the summer and incoming transfers !

I also remember one season way back when we had a triumphant tour of Scandanavia, winning every game and got relegated at the end of the season.

You just have to see the celebrations to see how seriously we took the game.. Blowing out the cobwebs and breaking ourselves slowly.. The hard work will start this week and in 2 weeks the friendlies will become alot faster and intense. Wouldn't worry too much here.

You'd fit in well working at the club with that kind of attitude

No one said the match was about the fans. It would just have been a simple gesture of common courtesy but as your contempt for them has shown, match attending fans mean nothing in football these days.

Oh dear , for an experienced Manager that's pretty dumb.

Getting the support on your side gets you through that rough patch between September and April when results aren't going your way, it buys you goodwill.

Cheers for the program, Arilsan. A few pages in English including a (mercifully brief) pull no punches history of the Irons. Doesn’t sound like we missed much footie wise, tho probably a nice place. Bad show by Pellegrini, what did the players do?

Game is still on the facebook link to watch. Just a slow paced meaningless friendly with nothing close to a first team at any stage.

Agree with others that Holland looked good. That Saed fella did OK to and tracked back quite well. Oxford llok like he lacked concentration.

Worst of all though was the commentator! Relation of Gold surely as he confused Obiang and Ogbonna more than once.

I'd say 8-10 of them came over and applauded the fans - Nobes & Zabaleta (even though he wasn't on for the 2nd half) amongst them

I personally tink pre-seasons are important - and part of that is that winning need s to be a habit.

85/86 could actually be argued to show the opposite of what you think.

We started 85/86 regular season poorly. With a better pre-season we might have got the couple of additional wins out of the first part of the season we needed to be champions.

Do you know if the guys selling the scarves were English or Austrian/German?
