we didn't get to operate as an attacking unit yesterday at all. Even if Bournemouth play well, it's difficult to imagine that we won't have more of the ball in the attacking third, so this will be a better test of our new squad.

We've spent £100 million and Snodgrass is making some first 11s.

Maybe it's worse than I feared.

i think barring injuries , they'll go for the same XI, maybe swapping cresswell for masuaku . if we get beaten , then i'd expect anonio/noble and possible rice places all under threat , if not already .

Why would you play Hernandez out on the wing?

Take Yarmy off around 60/65 as he’s not fully match fit yet for Chico if we need a goal or Snodders if we are holding a slender lead as he has a good work ethic.

Fernandez won’t be around. Gone. We are light in the cm area. Rice is unproven. As is Cullen.

All rather odd. Can we still sign out of contract players?

I totally understand that Pellergrini has a set style and has signed players to fit that style so I would stick with it.

Fabianski rightly or wrongly was given the shirt but it is fair to say he should keep it.

Back four need to get to know each other so no changes needed there although I would have Cresswell in my first choice back four so if he is fit, I'd get him in and get him playing with the other lads. We can look to use Masuaku further up the pitch or from the bench.

No idea how 'match ready' Sanchez is but I assume we signed him to play in the deep laying midfield role. If he is not fit then I'd be looking at Obiang there. If Obiang isn't going to Italy this week, he has to start. He is a much more complete player than Rice due mainly to age and experience so it is a no brainer for me. I think Rice was looking superb at the back for us in a back three to be honest and we could ruin the kid if we are not careful with him.

Noble and Wilshere will benefit hugely from not having as much to worry about in terms of covering the DCM role, they can just focus on playing football with runners in front of them. Too much of Noble's time was taken up covering Rice at Liverpool, with Obiang in there and no Keita or Mane to pick up I can see it working a lot better.

Anderson showed enough to keep his place but Antonio looked way off the pace. I'd assume that Perez and Yarmolenko will both be above Antonio in the packing order once they have bedded in, hopefully in time for this game!

Arnautovic will be the main man and I'd back him to get goals in this game. He was frustrated at Liverpool but will see a lot more of the ball against Bournemouth at our place.
