Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Macclesfield Town: match thread (26/9)
It can easily be forgotten that in recent memory it took us almost 5 halves of football to score against Shrewsbury, 90 minutes to score against Accrington Stanley and Oxford United, lost to Aldershot, and suffered defeats to numerous other lower league teams. Add to that the habitual unimpressive wins against teams deeply subordinate to us, this is a truly remarkable result, and should not be underestimated.

And as mentioned earlier, what would the result have been under Moyes or BFS?
Would we have sat back at 1:0

Astonishing.
The biggest ever win I have seen in the flesh. 54 years after my first game. I've seen us struggle on more occasions than I care to recall, not to say that was absolutely outstanding. Very well done all who took part

Macclesfield look dire though. Sitting above the Football League trap-door.

All the more reason that a team like us should be racking up goals against them.vietnammer wrote:Macclesfield look dire though. Sitting above the Football League trap-door.

Yeah they have to be worst team I have seen us play against, poor sods gonna be a long season for them!vietnammer wrote:Macclesfield look dire though. Sitting above the Football League trap-door.
Nice to see us punish these sort of teams for a change, enjoyed that tonight, loved the enthusiasm Grady D had right from the off!
Snodders man of match for me but top debut from the young lad

Number 45 = a star is born
Best match I’ve watched at that place for atmosphere, effort and punters by an absolute mile
& I did the Chelsea & Spurs games
Bravo all involved.

Did any Macc fans make the journey? Fair play to 'em if they did.

They filled most of the lower tier away section but most stayed in the bar for the second half.vietnammer wrote:Did any Macc fans make the journey? Fair play to 'em if they did.

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Macclesfield Town: match thread (26/9)
Been out all night watching our boy perform in a rather lengthy play tonight [ 2 hours + ] , just got back to find out we've equalled that other brilliant day back in '68 when we beat Sunderland 8-0 .
OK , it's only Macclesfield but we've come unstuck against lower league sides too many times in the past so it's good to see us take a game such as this seriously enough to rack that many goals up .
Congratulations to young Grady Diangana , Ryan Fredericks and most of all Robert Snodgrass on their first goals for the First X1 , Robert has been putting in a lot of effort of late and deserves to get on the scoresheet .
Through to the 4th Round .

Quest - Thieves vs rent boys, then Goons vs some other London mob, then Spurs vs their biggest local rivals Watford.
Us at some point tonight apparently, probably 23:50...
