We at least have the makings of a good defence in Diop and Balbeuna, but we need investment in the FB areas. Zaba can't go on forever. Cresswell is awful and Masuaku has his moments.

Yeah I agree the refereeing was absolute dogshit, just didn't feel it was a pen.Crossd_Hammrs wrote:
Seeing it again, it was probably 50:50 with the arms. But the challenge after, free-kicks were given against us for a lot less contact than that.
And if you think of the soft (non-existant fouls) penalties have been awarded against us in the dying minutes of games in the past couple of seasons...
I was reminded of this on Saturday when we were denied a good penalty appeal, and the clear penalty that wasn't awarded when Diagana got cleaned out the week before.

Well, I am disappointed, without being particularly surprised.

They probably don’t get the 3rd with Balbuena in there either.Burnley Hammer wrote:Having Ogbonna instead of Balbuena makes a huge difference, doesn't it? All of a sudden our defence looks as fragile as it did last season. Apart from that, we really should have put away more of our chances...
The fact Antonio played 90+ Minutes is a joke.

Can't argue with any of that.DannyboyDJL wrote:Worrying display tonight. Anderson hooked at half time and rightly so after 3 stinking performances on the bounce. I called it after the opening games of the season that he'd be the worst signing we've ever made. There's something wrong the lad to have 1 Brazil cap and to be on the bench at Lazio. His last 3 games have been down to a lack of interest. He basically couldn't be arsed.
Ogbonna still his casual self and looks to be 2 seconds off the pace both physically and mentally.
Antonio wasn't a surprise, the lad is finished.
Hernandez needs to be moved on. He's just not earning his money.
Diop, Diangana and Rice showed the senior boys up tonight.

Once again the usual suspects let us down. Arthur can't defend, Oggy gets bullied out of the way constantly and Antonio is an utter waste of space, doesn't pass and can't shoot for toffee. Hernandez not justifying his large salary etc.
Anderson once again totally ineffective. A few nice little touches and that's it. Two games against Spurs and he looks like he can't be mithered. We've been robbed by about 30 million. Diangana looks twice the player.

Story of the season:
Not good, not awful, could have had more, mistakes.
Foyth man of the match. Two goal saving interventions. Ref second, ignored a clear pen and decided yellows weren’t allowed. He was great for them.

It would have been difficult to imagine early in the season that Snodders coming on for the club record signing would give us quite a bit more

As soon as that oxygen thief ran on the pitch I knew we'd concede from the corner but Ogbonna......Jesus H. Christ! His ricket for the first was bad enough, then there's Arthur's brainfart for the second. Antonio.....words fail me how bad he is at football. Embarrassing to witness.

What pisses me off the most is no-one is looking to get aggressive with their players in challenges - the only one who will now and again is Snodgrass. If they're passing it around you for fun and taking the piss - sorry but you need go and kick one of them.
They were pulling and pushing and shoving us all over the field all night at Twattwell did nothing. So why not push the envelope and get even? Really naive and gutless

And there you have it in a nutshell, but its lack of movement full stop. Oh and the woeful attempts of closing down oppo players or the lack of.New Jersey wrote:There really must be a lack of movement up front for the amount of time we are playing it backwards, along the line, back again, it's quite frustrating.
They did the basics chased/closed down WHU players and didn't stop running/moving. Play and move play and move.
What do they do they do all week I ask.

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Tottenham Hotspur: match thread
You watch players have a good game now and again and think 'oh they're ok' but the truth is they're nowhere near good enough. Antonio, Ogbonna, Masuaku just aren't the real deal, even Snodgrass who has really shown a great attitude this season isn't of a high enough standard, the same goes for Cresswell. Some of the others like Anderson and Fredericks I'd give a bit more leeway but not much. How difficult can it be for a professional footballer to deliver a decent corner ffs!61dicksey wrote:Build a team around , Fabianski, Diop , Balbuena, Rice, Diagana , Arnie , the rest averagely ****
Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Tottenham Hotspur: match thread
poor tonight, poor ref absolute bellend no penalty no yellows just dreadful, poor mistakes oggy and arthur, poor performances oggy, Arthur, perez, chico, fredericks, poor fitness levels Antonio that walker peters was playing as a winger in the end just left Antonio, Antonio should join carroll and chico as impact subs, they aint got a full match in them, arnie looked different class when he came on because he has a brain, diangana ran out of steam last 20 minutes and needed to be subbed to protect him but the performances of some of the others meant he stayed on, their keeper was absolute crap and we never got at him, hope they draw Chelsea away now so at least one of them will get knocked out, gutted another cup run ends after a dreadful performance,

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Tottenham Hotspur: match thread
It really is an utterly bare bones squad.
That's about the strongest team we could put out tonight, against the Totts reserves.
Totally gutted about this game, but lets be honest, how far could we really go in this competition with this squad!!
The penalty aside, there should be an inquest into the officiating, lets just say, the ref wasn't impartial.
