FFS stop calling everything "excuses". You're not even disagreeing with what I'm saying so I don't know why you're taking such a contrary stance. Not sure why you're bringing Nasri up either as he wasn't even playing.IronworksDave wrote: Look we can make as many excuses as we want but let's be honest we've screwed it up big time every year since we came back up ... starting again every year or two years is just a sure sign of failure ... we already have the second oldest squad in the league, so by default we will be starting again next year or the year after anyway ....
But hey let's add a short term 31 year old ... that's bound to work ... and even if it does so what? we will be just treading water not moving forward, just like we have done for years ... we need to change the mindset ...
Why not sign three 20 year old lower league players ... we just might get a good one who's with us for a decade ... not a sticking plaster for the next six months ....

Until this club is operated with a modicum of medium to long term strategic planning we will always be treading water. Pellegrini is good but he's not a miracle worker and he is forever hampered by having utter morons as bosses.

in all fairness and playing the devil's advocate - he agreed to come here, (as did all the other managers that we have hired) he MUST have known what knobs the Axis of Evil are yet he signed the deal..Kialos wrote:Until this club is operated with a modicum of medium to long term strategic planning we will always be treading water. That’s the main thing for me.davids cross wrote:Like what Pellers is doing..........it feels like 2 steps forward and 1 step back at the moment but the football (or the attempted football is lovely to watch).
It’s enjoyable to watch.
The six I do the matches with are all in agreement that there’s enough football being played to make it enjoyable. Not related to the owners or surroundings or anything else, just the football.
None of us are “football experts”, merely West Ham United punters.
& more often than not this season, we’re decent to watch.

Billing should be on our list for summertime if they go down.
we lack a physical presence in the team.
apart from zab diop and arnie the rest are too nice to play against. we got over run by a Huddersfield team and in the end were grateful for a point away to a bottom 3 side. That says a lot about us.
BUT the football is better to watch than under moyes, fat sam or the latter bilic teams. we are at least in games, have a go and play decent stuff.

Is there a quick way to find the opposition view?
It’s one of my favourite features of this site and often thought it should have its own sub-section.

I've quoted her post just a few posts above this, she made my point more succinctly than I could. Head back to NUMB for an argument mate.IronworksDave wrote: See what Kialos said ......

I agree, of course, but am hoping you are underestimating MP.Kialos wrote:Until this club is operated with a modicum of medium to long term strategic planning we will always be treading water. One thing we have to give credit for is having a manager pursuing a set plan irrespective of Sullivan. Bringing Snodgrass back, giving time to Diagana, dropping Anderson when it suited, spending £60m on 2 players, giving Wilshere a 3 year contract (!), resisting the chance to sell Marko for a quick profit - all of those things surprised me and suggest a manager with free reign.
Maybe, just maybe, the events of last March shook Kim Jong David up, just a little.
We have a manager with feck all to lose and he seems determined to play things his way. Exciting times ladies and gentlemen.
Re: ⚽ Huddersfield Town v West Ham Utd: match thread (10/11)
Have to agree with you Doc, Pell seems to be dictating the way things are going. I think that was the deal, he said yes to sulli on the understanding he had free rein. That's the point though, he has the standing to get his way, sulli can't claim to know better.
