During the first few games it was a fair criticism to level at h, but since he hit his straps about 8 games ago, he's worked his nuts off in both directions. He ain't afraid of doing the donkey work, when he fancies it. And thankfully of late, he's fancied it big time. Which is surprising in itself considering the time of year it is, you'd normally expect new south Americans to the league to struggle acclimatising, but not him, he loves the winter season so far. I suspect that time in Italy helped toughen him up in that respect and none of it fazes him now.
I could watch our second over and over again. Pure clinical counter-attacking perfection; a storming run and sublime ball from Antonio with an absolute belter of a finish from Anderson sending our away crowd into raptures
Anderson never has, and never will be the type of player to track back all game, yet still makes more tackles than anyone else in our midfield/attack. Payet was the same, if Anderson is scoring goals then I think we can let him off for not tracking back.
They also played no wingers, and just wing backs, Antonio on the other side only had one player to deal with, and Diangana and Snodgrass hardly had to put a defensive shift in either. I noticed Rice and Obiang were often out wide doubling up with our full backs which was great to see as it meant we could hit them on the counter, and the latter had a storming game which went rather unnoticed.
I have family that are Saints fans and watched the game. Their opinion is that the Hammers deserved to win and were one of the best teams to visit St Marys this season.
Pell Boy's Claret and Blue Army!
Reading the comments on that Southampton forum, there's a surprising lack of mention of the penalty shout for Snodgrass and a sprinkle mention the handball for the goal... in saying that, if ever there was a call for VAR, this was it, ref bungled a f*** load.
what a result from a patched up hammers side. can we imagine what moyes or fat sam would have done. we would have defended and lost 2-0 as Southampton grew into it.
MP has them playing football no matter who comes in. great to see.
fab - great display and best keeper for some time.
antonio - did his best at RB but so dangerous going forward. most improved player after snoddy.
diop - a good game from the monster
ogbonna - strong and did well
cresswell - great display and deserves the start ahead of arthur as LB.
snoddy - good performance again from hum
diagana - learning all the time but deserved to be subbed
anderson - poor first half, great second !
perez - poor and not up to it.
carroll - getting his fitness up but doesnt suit our style now.
noble - did what was needed to see game out.
Pellegrini - has got us playing the west ham way ! Thankyou . we finally have a decent manager who is building a good winning mentality.
Anderson does track back, and his stats prove this.
But you don’t want your best attacking players constantly tracking back, when will people get this around their heads? If he gets injured, we will be pretty much ****ed.

What’s up with this guy, has the talent but talk about inconsistent!

Here comes the attention seekers.
How is this attention seeking?
It was written in the first half... did you even watch the game? Or Watford? I was there, trust me Anderson was terrible. He had a fantastic second half last night but that was kind of my point wasn’t it? That he has the talent but wasn’t playing to the standard he can?

I agree with all that but would have to say that Obiang was excellent with Rice in the middle today, classy performance & kept things simple.
Can't stop watching that second goal, at the very start of the move pretty much all of our players were defending in our box, then bang we have 5 players breaking on the counter, we had more players attacking than they had defending, it really was a thing of beauty, finished superbly by Anderson.
