Just saw MOTD and, on Iwobi, he was left in rather a lot of space for that shot 2nd half.

I was gobdmacked when I saw Arsenal's line up before KO to see Emery had done half the job for us by not starting Torreira, Ramsay and Ozil altogether. I always did like that Emery. A proper brain fart moment.

..just such a professional performance from west ham. We were patient, probing and worked so hard all over the park all game long- fully deserved

Once the giddyness bubbles of the win go pop, the reality is there's a huge gulf between Ogbonna and The General - he did ok yesterday however he's the weakest link.

Nasri reminds me of what weve been missing with no lanzini all season - really like the poistions and touches he has- very promising

Our lack of consistency means a win at bournemouth next week is minimum we should target- anyone fancy an all-win month?!

Bournemouth starting to struggle a bit, West Ham on the up. We both know what that means for the result next week. Consistency has never been a West Ham trait :D

I've just watched the game for a second time and I'm amazed at how little the keepers had to do. The block by Fab early doors and I can't remember their keeper doing much either. Apart from picking Dec's shot out of the net. But I'll take that all day especially against one of the "elite"!

When I saw their lineup was when I thought we had a real chance for the first time in a long while if we gave a top performance as opposed to a Brighton style home appearance.

Why go 3 at the back when none are really happy stepping into the midfield. Why leave Torreira on the bench as he was the player who was going to prevent the sort of holes in front of the back 3/4 we exploited especially first half. No way Nasri gets the time to wait on Anderson’s run if he was on the pitch.

Arsenal were poor in part because of the manager. He seems to have set his heart against certain players who do not play “his way”. Yes Ozil can be frustrating when he does not track back etc but Payet like he can have moments of genius - Iwobi or Ozil should be a no brainer.

I really do not get a lot of the Xhaka love, when things go wrong for them he is often at the centre of the problem. Versatile player yes but not really a holding midfielder, box to box player or exceptional passer. For a team aspiring for top 4 etc not good enough.

Guendouzi will be a very good player but still has a lot to learn. Compare him to Rice yesterday and it is clear who is closer to being the finished article.

We were the better team, we deserved the win as we did against Man Utd earlier in the season. There is no shame being beaten by the likes of City or (much as it hurts) Spurs. We have now taken 7 points out of 15 against so called top 6 clubs at home which is excellent but then begs the question of how we can loose to Bournemouth, Wolves, and Watford as well as very nearly add Brighton to that list. If we want to properly become a club challenging for Europe not only must we continue with the form we have shown against the top 6 but we must improve against the so callled lesser teams.

Arsenal’s style suits our defenders. It’s the set-piece specialist/lots of high crosses teams we struggle against.

not sure if it has been discussed..

Antonio made a great run down the right cut in toward the top of the box on his left peg and I'm screaming at the screen: NO NO NO NO NO NO NO...the he shanks it (yet again) into the stratosphere...

Pellers should tell him, "Do that again and you don't play any more..."

how many times now has he done that ?

:x

The players are clearly being coached to bring the ball out and to aim their passing and not just hoof it.

Ogbonna was doing it yesterday, too.

Antonio will never play with any kind of intricate grace, but getting the ball up to more retentive players seems to be something he is honing for us.

He's also very useful in attacking the far post, if, say, Anderson, or Cress, are unloading crosses from the other side.

So, yes, he is going to perhaps lose possession more than others, but he's also moving the ball further, when he succeeds on a run.

p-m

I am okay with everything he did yesterday...but he had/has players in good positions and he chooses to shoot with his left peg which hasn't even come close to testing the keeper....

JUST STOP IT.......

Antonio has tried that loads of times....it always ends up with an unbalanced left footed swipe miles over.

You just know the next one is going to fly in the top corner though! :D

It is frustrating when. He wastes good opportunities in good areas of the pitch like that, but he can often be excused in one sense as he does it a lot when turning defence into attack in an instant which is priceless when you're in a defensive hole he manages to dig us out of. And although rare, it does sometimes come off like the winner against Sunderland against the fat ****.

what pellegrini should be saying is 'don't kick the ball with your right foot for 3 days until you realise your left foot is not just for standing on'

Let's be honest though I think it sums Antonio up as a player, sometimes brilliant running at players, sometimes totally baffling decisions

He scored that goal with his left Duke at Upton Park when cutting in from the right [maybe Sunderland?]. I think he still has that on his mind

Edit: I typed that without seeing Colours post about Sunderland above!
