I cannot begin to descibe how f'ing proud I am of the performance, as Im sure we all are.
Carrol - Apart from a few dodgy moments, was solid in dealing with what he had to.
Repka & Konch - Both overlapped welldefending well, crossed well, class.
Anton & Gabbs - Nothing but pure class. End of.
Nige & Mullins - As above. For a midfield pair of such youth they dominated the game against an established Premiership team.
Yossi - Unbelievable energy. Confirmed everything we have been told about him.
Teddy - After a bit of a quiet start, held the ball up suberb and brought the others into play in a way only he can. Villa just couldnt handle him.
Marlon - Special mention for this fella. You could see the confidence grow in him. Thought he was gonna cry when going off!!!
Like I said, so proud.

My God - almost speechless.
It was quite hard to describe just how good that performance was. Simply everyone was magnificent. Carrol was solidly behind everything. Gabbs and Anton were pacy, solid and strong. Both flanks combined well. The midfield two were exceptional. Marlon was alert and razor sharp. Teddy looked like a 20 year old. And Yossi? Looking like a £20m man.
In truth, Villa did not look like much, but they were an experienced Prem team, fancied by many for Europe, and having just spent several million quid on the side. Yet we took them apart.
Everything went right today. The sky was blue, but the heat less oppressive. The ladies in my office looked slightly more attractive than usual. We won the Ashes, not in a rained off way, but by getting into trouble then actually playing our way out of it. My journery to the ground was not delayed. The atmosphere was the best it has been for a good few years. The minutes' silence to Noel was observed immaculately. And we just beat a top eight Prem side 4 ****ing 0.
A truly memorable, wonderful day.
Alan Pardew's Claret Army.

Stevo wrote:People are talking about moving Harewood wide right and pushing Yossi further foward, just behind the front two. Why? At the moment our team has really good shape and rythym to our play with the players in the positions right now. We are getting decent results because of it and the football is also easy on the eye and more attractive than some of the guff being played by other oppositions.
It's a bit like the England scenario for changing a formation just for the sake of changing when it just isn't necessary in the first place.
Once we start tinkering too much with the shape and change from our succesful 4-4-2 right now, we will begin to lose shape, drop points and ultimately lose valuable confidence, for which Pardew has worked so tirelessly for over recent months.
It's critical at the moment we persist with the formation we currently play with and players playing where they are now. If you want to think we should change tactics for any reason, then hope it will be for personnel rather than sacrificing our shape, which is the key to our play at present. So in short, keep Yosi out wide where he can still drift in and make things happen like he has been doing in every game so far and take Harewood (bless im) out of the team to be replaced with either Aliadiere or Zamora respectively.
As long as all are fit to play, it should be:
Carroll
Repka Ferdinand Gabbidon Konchesky
Benayoun Mullins Reo-Coker Etherington
Aliadiere Sheringham
Apart from the Harewood bit, it was not a bad idea to keep our shape now was it?
Well done Marlene, super hat-trick. Well chuffed for him and hopefully give him the belief and confidence to know he CAN now mix it with the best in this league. *phew*
What a day what a result, a day to be one proud West Ham supporting Englishman like myself. :stgeorge:

Echoed sentiments from me too after the final whistle.
It was a great game - and real West Ham style - fast and full of flair - but I have to say that I thought Villa were v poor - predictable, sluggish and lacking any guile. Even so there were a few hairy moments - a couple of bad bits of distribution from Danny and Roy lost a couple of crosses completely and looked shakey after his knock on the leg - but this has go to be the best night for a long while... bring on the Arsenal...

Well done lads - that was fantastic entertainment.
When I bought my tickets for the Arsenal match I was looking forward to it but a bit concerned - now I know we are going to attack them and with the skills on display today should score a couple I am really looking forward to it.
I have thought we were owed a bit of luck for some time now and if that double rebound of our posts is anything to go by we could beat any team this season.
