I understand that the player marks in the NOTW are supplied by agency guys rather than the people who actually do the match reports. This would explain why sometimes you read a report that says one thing and the marks section suggests another.

Sunday Times scores and report was pants.

Ethers got 6 and Newton 5 - I would say that Newton was much better once he came on.

Apparently Benayoun supplied the pass for Sheringham's good chance. Understandable error with Tom & Yossi having similar hairstyles

Obviously the NOTW reporters can't count up to ten then, so they have to farm that bit out *rolling eyeys thingy*

Repka did have a mare for most of the match but looked OK for the 10mins before he got subbed, Etherington was *****, those ratings are b*llocks..
even the old cliche of not being able to string two passes together couldn't sum up that performance, we couldn't string one pass together for most of the game..
still its a point away from home .....

Personally, I'd have given Tom a 4 (just for that one long ball,) TS a 3 and Ethers a big, fat 0. :?

And possibly Carroll for keeping us in the game, from which we committed daylight robbery. :D

Naah. I'd say a 5 or 6 for him. The saves he made weren't difficult, and the goal he could have done better with the first attempt (though it wasn't easy, so not really putting any blame on him)

Just one save is as good as a goal for me and he made 3 or 4 vital interceptions (including coming for crosses). If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have been in for any points, plus he commanded his defence well in front of him.

6 to 7 for me.

Agreed. You want to split the difference and call it a 6?

Etherington 2
Sheringham 4
Harewood 5

i'd give these marks personally, thought the subs all did well 6s for football genius and bobby, 7 for newton.

think all the 3s n 4s well deserved we were bloody awful, sunderland did very well at ruining our game but they looked very toothless upfront. they were missing arca, stubbs and basila i know but think they'll really struggle. well happy with a point from that, a really shocking performance.
