West Ham Utd 2 Fulham 1 (23/01/06)

Etherington seems to have gone back to his "I know, I'll just get rid of the ball as soon as I can" tactic
and how many times did he push the ball well past the player in front of him, without looking anything like managing to chase onto it?.......pointless and frustrating
he did a few good things to be fair, but I hope it's not a signal of end to his recent better efforts

He seemed to struggle with the basics tonight IMO. His first touch was well off, and the simple passes didnt always meet up.4rc4ngel wrote:Konch did not have the best of gaes from a defensive perspective, but was it me or did he keep a number of moves forward going. and putting in some good crosses.
Still, he has been class so far, so I he can be forgiven for tonight
several teams this year have gone flat out from whistle against us - usually the ones who are likely to struggle (sunderland comes to mind). Konch played like he did in the USA - tendency to get tied up with the importance of it all... don't like the way he looks like al murray when he's worried...etherington strangely generous with the ball in 1st half..

Christ there is some b*llocks on here tonight.
Konch had a bad game - his first for ages. Let it pass.
Gabbs made a mistake, but it cost us nothing. Let it pass.
Reo C did nothing of note, but (along with Mullins) dominated the midfield and kept us ahead. You don't need to score a wonder goal to have a good game.
Repka was *****, but then again Repka is *****.
BTW - was it just me or was Bridge outstanding tonight?

Mullins had a good game, Reo-Coker despite a lot of running did not. If it was not for Mullins we would have been butchered. Re-Coker was hite tonight. (He is one of my favorte players BTW and I predicet ig things from him)
Repka was *****, but then again Repka is *****. Repka had a very good game defensively

Really enjoyed my hour long walk to Barking then half hour wait for the train
Wont go into details just want to go to Bed
Carroll - 7 couple of great saves one from Radzinski was quality. One dodgy kick out when Konch nearly gave a penalty but looked safe and did well
Repka - 8 what can I say? played really well and coped with Boa Morte easily! Legend in my eyes and will be missed. SUPER SUPER TOM.....
Konchesky - 5 wasnt impressed with him tonight didnt look fluent as usual but we are all entitled to an off night
Gabbidon - 6 looked comfortable on the ball took it easy one small mistake for the goal but shows how much we missed him
Anton - 7 Great game battled hard looks so much more at ease with Gabbidon at the back and WHAT A GOAL
Benayoun - 7 worked his socks off very effective chased hard and looked super fit another ****ing great goal to boot well done Yossi!
Mullins 8 - My man of the match by a long way he does so much work and wins virtually every header and tackle a real work horse but with style
Reo-coker 6 - not his best performance but put the running in and worked to the end has a great engine. id like to see him get into more shooting posistions
Etherington 6 - another one who was too quiet for me but still got his crosses in worked hard didnt expose Rosenior enough he was their weak link. Is an asset for us our only winger
Harewood - 7 Worked hard hustled done the **** part of the job well used his strength but silly attempt for a penalty
Zamora - 7 worked his arse off unlucky with header that hit the post doesnt seem to be blessed with pace which he needed on 2 occasions but did well
Katan did well when he came on looks a real player to me
Daily won his headers great shot nearly killed someone in the BMU
Newton looked sharp running from the dugout but didnt touch the ball
All in all good 3 points from a good solid Premiership side. We are 9th with 32 points 2 wins on the bounce! A new 7 million pound centre forward ........... WE'RE BACK

Just got home, tough little game and expected it to be a real dogged fight.
Don't think I've been so nervous this season as I was in the 2nd half, we sort of had a mad 10 minutes or so with Gabs & Konch.
Fact of the matter is we won and have stopped the rot of defeats.
Great atmosphere in the place tonight, with the exception of the treatment of Dailly. Sorry but this is completely over the top and out of order, I like mentioned above was surprised by the amount of our fans that joined in aswell. Come on we're West Ham we're better than that.
Really sad to see Tomas go tonight aswell, I think he'll be sorely missed.

No, what i mean is from those areas i'm used to us wasting an opportunity. They seemed to have realised that they are getting into good enough positions to win games but the final ball has been poor at times. Tonight i saw attempts to improve and make the right decision for the final ball. That one such ocassion resulted in a goaldo you mean as an assist for the goal ?
stretching it if so.....Yossi made that goal by himself, with individual brilliance, irrespective of who passed the ball to him beforehand

Odd sort of game, a good first half performance with two incredible goals, other than that we were decent.
Second half, what the hell happened to Konch and Gabbers, however after the 65th/70th min mark we looked fine, the last chance I remeber them having was when Konch and Gabbers colided with each other.
Repka, Mullins, Yossi, Anton and Carrol all had very good games
Gabbers Konch were poor and NRC was suprisingly quiet

fair enough.....as I said previous.....he did do a few good things4rc4ngel wrote:Tonight i saw attempts to improve and make the right decision for the final ball. That one such ocassion resulted in a goal
his best ball for me was the one whipped low across the goal ray stewart style
but, whilst there's no reason to take anything bad away from tonight's game particularly, I do agree with the comments that Etherington looked weak overall.....hopefully he'll pick it up again next game

You are very had to please.A New Hope wrote:Will we ever keep a clean sheet again?
I know we're quite an attack-minded team, and we've had a few injuries of late, but 13 games in a row without a clean sheet, is very poor.
Personally, I couldn't give a **** how many we concede, as long as we score more. We have been less solid since Gabbs got injured, which is hardly surprising. Today would have been a clean sheet without Gabbs (first for the club) error.
Still, I suppose we could play a far more defensive formation, grind out a few dull 0-0 draws and make you happy.
