Just been watching the replay of last nights game and after Bruce's tackle on Gabbidon at the end of the 1st half which resulted in the flare up Scaloni is over at the linesman trying to get him booked and Reo Coker tell him not to do that. Fair play to Nige, although the tackle was poor its refreshing to see some integrity in the game still. West Ham showing the way again!

Anyone else think we should sign up Pennant when Brum go down??

I agree.

I think brum would be ripe for a couple of pickings, Pennant and Dunn especially!

No mate. they are different players. Hrewood was effectively playing alone right up front, with at times two cnetrbacks on him, whilst Ashton was playing the "sheringham" link role. Worked very well, but without a player of Harewoods ability ahead of him it would be a different matter.

You're right. we don't have to say one is better than the other as they are different players. Ashton worked hard and did the job he was asked to do. I didn't think he had that many crosses to get on the end of - apart from the one he scored from.

Was at the game last night, and I have to say, whoever started the "Brucie, whats the score?" chant, pure genius :doff:

Watched the game last night...and a fair few wonderful cameos and performances, mostly mentioned above.

Ashton - winning headers and some great link ups - highlight for me was the third goal; he controls the long ball, swivels and passes out to the right to Scaloni, then ghosts into back post to be in the right place at the right time.

Marlon - his backheel attempted pass and some of his running down the line when he went to RM.

Plus the amount of times they harried and chased defenders and Taylor - contributed immensely to our solidness

Mullins - some very deft passing at times in the first half

Dailly - doggedness and 110% and a blistering shot!

Katan - nice close control

Zamora - felt he really tried to put himself about and ran weel for the team - including tracking back after an attack broke down and making a good tackle on the line just in front of Konchesky!

Benayoun - so good passing and lot of late runs into the box, number of times he was next to marlon following up on Ashton flicks and his near misses in the inside right position in 2nd half

Reo-Coker - calm and reassuring - but some woefull long shooting !

Etherington - impressed by his tracking back and harrying

Scaloni - some nice crosses (not the best one that led to the first goal though!)

Konchesky - still seems to flatter to deceive in my eyes, his crosses are either excellent or total crap - same seems to be for his defending!

Anton - liked the way he pulled Bruce aside before Gabbidon could kill him - probably saved Gabbi from a red card IMHO!

Habbidon - dealt with Sutton and all his nigglyness really well.

Hislop - awsome, vocal commanding and would seem like caroll will have to go some to get his position back

C'MON U IRONS!

I'm one of the most pessimistic Hammers alive but I was really pleased with yet another win last night. It's a weird feeling but I'm very happy with them right now! Here's to another at Bolton.

If anyone gives a sh*t

Hislop (7) - Not much to do but what he did was solid

Konchesky (8) - Linked up well with Ethers going forward and Pennant didn't have much joy down their right.

Gabbidon (8) - Another solid performance. Does everyone now agree that I was right to call him HOTY months ago?

Ferdinand (7) - Couple of mistakes but always recovered well and was generally solid. Distribution was a bit disappointing at times

Scaloni (7) - Solid enough up against a good player in Jarosik, but got caught out a few times. Still adjusting to the Prem, but he's no Super Tom though is he!!

Etherington (9 MOTM) - Awesome. His pace absolutely scared the life out of Melchiot

Mullins (8) - Starting to develop into a quality holding Prem in midfield

Reo-Coker (8) - His usual hustling bustling box to box role. Needs to learn to shoot though

Benayoun (6) - Disappointing. Couple of nice touchs (his turn on hafl way line was brilliant) but not his usual self. Has been off the boil since he's had that haircut. Is he like Samson? Grow it Benayoun, please!!!

Harewood (8.5) - Awesome. Never stopped running and scared the life out of Birmingham defence. Can't take penalties though

Ashton (8) - 2 goals in 2 starts. A snip at £7m!!! Big in your face old fashioned forward. Exactly what've we've needed for a long while.

Subs;

Christian Makedailly (c. Joe C) (8) - A good performance. Is a good Def Mid, just awful at RB or CB
Katan (7) - Starting to like the look of this bloke
Zamora (7) - Didn't get involved mucxh, but what he did he did well.

Pardew (9) - Went for it as usual in true West Ham style. Ron would've been proud.

Marlon is my MOM.
Never stopped running, 2 goals, his work rate is nothing short from amazing.
I thought Mullins had a good game, until he was subbed, NRC had a good 2nd half, Gabbidon was brilliant, as was Anton.
Matty had a good first half, but faded a bit in the second half.
Ashton had a great game as well, his touches were great.
I really like his link-up with the creative players, those who can leave you infront of the keeper with a single pass(Matty, Yossi and Marlon).
I think Yossi can do a whole lot better, since I know what he's got, and so do you.
But his defensive work is overlooked, people forget that in order for a team to work, the attackers got to track back, which he does often, second to Marlon in that area.
His jub is to supply the magic, which he has, and will continue to do so, but only if given more freedom in the attacking areas.
I thought Marlon was great on the right wing when he played there, so why not move Yossi behind Ashton, that way you'll get a lot more of him on the attacking plays.
Konchesky and Scaloni looked great for the entire match.
I thought Katan did a job as a sub. so did Zamora.
Dailly had a good game as well.

Heard the early chants of 'c&b army,' but couldn't make out 'whose' army it was?

The Amsterdam Hammers posse is now approaching 10-strong, and that's not counting Dutch Hammers! 8-)

Love what Pardew said when asked about the England job. " I'm not going anywhere, This team really excites me".

It was Alan Pardew's C+B army in our part of the ground (next to the Birmingham fans). Having tired of the standards (Going Down and We can see you sneaking out, a nice mix up of We Can See You Going Down was also aired).

Bye Bye flash in the pan Blues. Bet you don't come back!
