Re: Liverpool v West Ham Utd: match thread
The result hinges on which Liverpool team turns up. Hopefully they think the result is a foregone conclusion and we can surprise them. No matter what, we will need to sit deep. Can’t see us stopping them from scoring, so we will need at least two goals.

On a stag weekend in Newcastle so unfortunately not making it to Anfield today, but COYI let’s upset the odds once again!
Re: Liverpool v West Ham Utd: match thread
We are quite capable of sticking 2 or 3 past this lot. This will depend more on how hard our midfielders run back to help with defence as it is on their regular duties going forward and in midfield in general
Capable.

Re: Liverpool v West Ham Utd: match thread
Actually fancy us to maybe nick a result today. While they do have some serious quality going forward, we have defended very well in games against the big guns, notably tottenham and Man City who along with liverpool have the best attacks in the country this season. Put in a performance like those 2 games and we have a chance given their ropey defence.
Don’t put in a performance though and we will get stuffed.....

Convinced we'll score, the trick is stopping them scoring

The key will be not getting into the position where we need to catch them... if they do that too often it won't matter how young or old our players arehammerman11 wrote:not sure about having evra zab and Collins in same team we need some young legs in there to catch them !

Think the 14/1 on Betfair is worth a small investment
Don't think it's totally out of the realms of possibility that we can nick a win

Not that fussed about the result, but would like us to go there with more intent than simply not to concede.

On the 12.07pm from Euston to Lime St now. Been up to Anfield many times but never seen a win. Think we could nick it but quite easily also get hammered. Depends which versions of both teams show up. COYIs. Love the club, hate GSB.

Stuck a fiver on us, can't turn down 14/1 in a premier league game. Hopefully we put in a shift and can snatch 1 or 2 on the break. Pretty confident Liverpool will score though, much better teams than us have failed to stop them.

Got money on the draw... out of blind hope more than anything else but I do think that we are a side, who on our day, with all our top players, can give anyone a game.

West Ham united : Adrian, Zabaleta, Collins, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Evra, Kouyate, Noble, Mario, Lanzini, Arnautovic.
Hernandez bang in form, enjoying his football again, let's drop him.

Re: Liverpool v West Ham Utd: match thread
It's a tactical change, not ideal but he's gone with packing the midfield over playing two up top. Lanzini should allow us to retain the ball better as well and Arnautovic will hold the ball up better as the lone striker. I reckon Hernandez will come off the bench at some point, especially if we're behindEastleighHammer16 wrote:Hernandez bang in form, enjoying his football again, let's drop him.

Re: Liverpool v West Ham Utd: match thread
I get the thinking by bringing in Lanzini to bolster midfield, but to drop Hernandez whilst in good form seems weird. Can totally understand his alleged frustration, why drop him when his confidence has just been built up a bit. It’s also just inviting more pressure from Liverpool, I’ll be surprised if we have even a third of possession in this game. Fingers crossed we can get something on the break with Arnie
The thought of Zabaleta and Evra against Mane and Salah scares me

Re: Liverpool v West Ham Utd: match thread
Experience and a defensive minded approach over younger players and attackers, even in form ones.
But I can see the logic given the opposition. We have a plan b on the bench which is helpful. Liverpool’s central midfield is not perfect so perhaps having four in there will cause them difficulties.
The one thing we must not do with this formation is give their central midfielders loads of time to pick out passes. Let the defenders have a little time inside their own half then press press press every player near the halfway line or beyond. We’ll also need to keep the ball a bit when we get it (I know, dreaming...).
