Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
It is quite simple, we need another in there with Noble and Wilshere. Replacing Noble is not going to solve the issue. We are just not strong enough to play two in the middle. No shame in that, hardly any teams play two in the middle these days, even Chelsea play three in the middle and they have Kante.
Playing Noble in there with just one other will constantly result in the same outcome... our midfield getting overrun. Same goes for Rice, Obiang and Sanchez if played in their alone.
We need to play an out and out holding midfielder behind Noble and Wilshere as it will give them both the freedom to do what they are actually good at.

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
Noble had one good quality. Pens. That has been taken from him
His time as “vital” to West Ham is finally coming to an end
Since payet (the paper over the cracks) left we have been in decline with poor leadership on the pitch.. the time in which he is suppose to be our leader
Nolan on the other hand organised some pretty average players well.
Thanks for the memories but it’s time to see us shoot up the table again

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
In his best season in the premier league (payet season funny that)
He scored 7 goals and set up 4
In the 2 seasons since he scored a total of 7 goals assisting 0 goals
Jack got 3 assists and a goal last year.. bearly played!

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
why's it funny that he had a good season when Payet was here, what a bizarre thing to say, almost like saying that Wilshire got 3 assists and a goal at a side that were in reality a different league to us?
Very weird
I take you are saying that Noble is **** and is the reason we are ****?

Having to carry him in terms of work (he can’t run) when he doesn’t bring goals to the team holds us backOzza wrote:why's it funny that he had a good season when Payet was here, what a bizarre thing to say, almost like saying that Wilshire got 3 assists and a goal at a side that were in reality a different league to us?

If payet didn’t run you could say he brings goals and assist to the team
However having to carry a player when you don’t have runners to do the work isn’t good enough and will hold us back
Bench him and watch the team get more energy

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
So you are suggesting that is is actually the likes of Diame, Collison, Nolan, Bherami, Kouyate and Obiang who have actually been carrying Noble for the past decade or so then?? Not the other way around.mumbles87 wrote: Having to carry him in terms of work (he can’t run) when he doesn’t bring goals to the team holds us back
For me (and many others) the real and obvious issue is that we have not found Noble and any of the above a solid defensive midfield player to sit behind them since Song left us. Obiang looks to be one of the best of a limited bunch and he is being totally overlooked.

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
Regardless of how good it would look... the outcome would be the same. Wilshere looking to push on and create, Obiang left with two or three runners to pick up... quality teams will pile straight through the middle of us.mumbles87 wrote:If obiang partnered Wilshere our midfield would look tons better
Why people can't see this is baffling. Arsenal have had the same issue dating back to when Vieira left them. They have never replaced him.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying Noble must start at all costs. In fact, if Sanchez comes in and plays the DCM role solidly then the pressure is on Noble to keep Obiang (who I really rate) out of the side in all honesty.
But until we solve the DCM issue (both formation and a quality player to play in there), Noble will continue to get overrun and this thread will go round and round...

Have a team in a higher league position than us ever made approaches for him?

I’d be interested if any premier league club hasFrancoisvander or else wrote:Have a team in a higher league position than us ever made approaches for him?

Wasn't he linked to Arsenal about 100 years ago??
Pulis definitely bid for him at some point, can't remember which club it was though.

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
For all the money we spent how on earth we didnt test the water for doucoure at Watford amazes me, exactly the type we need and even he alone would have made such a huge difference, seri at fulham also looks like another that got away, maddison looks another,
Come jan this part of the pitch finally has to be addresed.

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
Noble looks like if you offered him retirement tomorrow, he'd take it. I think the last few seasons have really taken it out of him and he doesn't have the legs or the desire anymore.

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
If you look at his passing stats against Bournemouth, they're good.
But his defensive stats are poor.
You've got to think he's a passing player, not a defensive midfielder.
The question is, then, why do successive managers keep asking him to win the ball back as well as be creative with it? He's just not cut out for it.

When we went down Fulham tried very hard to sign him, he wanted to stay with us.
Arsenal and Stoke have both bid for him in the past too (after finishing above us).
