I thought he was rubbish on Saturday, he was at fault for the goal, can't forgive him for his 'tackle' on Mendes, is not anywhere near Prem quality and don't think he would add anything to the side ....as for the Dicks comparison, yes Dicks went in hard but at least he had a modicum of footballing talent...I will be saying my prayers tonight as well as bombarding the Ipswich Town call centre/website/fans forum with reports on whata really great signing Thatcher would be .... for them !! :D

Maybe he should read this Forum, or ask his son...

Curbishley did that on the first day last season and we kept the score down to 2-0... could work.

Of course, Thatcher never top-scored for a club, or single-handedly won games from the rather incredulous position of LEFT BACK either. 4-3 against the Spuds in the howling rain will live long in the memory, the only time you will ever see a leftback influence a game the way Dicks did that night. Magnificent.

Turn it in!
Whilst anyone would agree that Julian, let's put it diplomatically, had temprament issues, there can be no doubting his ability.
A great passer, and cracking striker of the ball, coupled with the rare ability of having the tenacicty and influence to drive the whole team forwards made him a formidable player.
I'll accept that the aggression wasn't always chanelled in the best way, but reckon if it wasn't for injury problems early on in his career to his knee he could have been an absolute belter of a player.
Comparisons with Thatcher are well wide of the mark, Stuart Pearce is a more apt comparison IMVHO.

It's a risk I'd be willing to take. Unless Ludo fancies a run out at LB for us.

That poll gives me faith in West Ham fans, well at least the ones who post on here.

Here's the article........would have thought if he was coming to us the medical at Ipswich wouldn't be needed as he was making a decision today.

Last updated: 12/08/2008 10:30:00

BEN Thatcher was this morning undergoing a medical at Portman Road.

The left back, who was given until lunchtime today to make up his mind over an offer from Ipswich Town, promised to give an answer this morning after deciding whether to join Town or West Ham United.

The 32-year-old, who was offered a one-year deal by Ipswich with an option for a second year a couple of weeks ago, has also undergone a medical with West Ham.

Exactly

I'd rather over react now thank you!

That is, whilst he is yet to sign for us, all the booing in the world please. Hopefully it'll be enough to persuade Curbs that Thatcher might not be the best option. If there's any doubt in Curbs's mind a chorus of boos might be enough to tip it away from signing him

Yet, if we did sign him, I'd find it harder to boo him. As Frodo was saying, I don't like to hear us booing one of our own. But whilst we haven't actually signed him, the more boos the better

very good news

Post by BLT319 »

Boss Jim Magilton has revealed that left-back Ben Thatcher is finally likely to complete his move to the Blues on Wednesday. Thatcher was on trial with Town during the pre-season tour of Belfast but subsequently spent time with Wolves and West Ham.

i know this will probably be locked or added to the ben thatcher thread but i just wanted every 1 to see it so they could enjoy this as much as me.... hopefully this means we have some 1 else lined up at LB :raver:
