I think that the West Ham Stadium would have been bigger than the OS. Certainly a larger (albeit standing) capacity and I believe that the track was longer than the 400m one at the OS.vietnammer wrote:If you just got rid of the track and moved the seats forward a bit....
Always seemed huge when I watched The Hammers in the late 60’s early 70’s.

Bravo Steve - that’s an astonishing photo.cockney hammer wrote:how good is this one
And isn’t the ARP (I assume that’s what he is) lad standing on the part of the stand that was actually bombed?

The [speedway] track was the largest in Great Britain with a circumference of 562 yards [514 m] and 123 yard straights
Crikey!
Re: good old days..
G'day Steve. Jack Burkett came into my mate's shop in Perth CBD last week. Mate told him what a West Ham nut I was and he said to say hello, was gutted I wasn't there as I would have loved to have a chat. I remember Bobby saying it was like winning the cup with your school team (ECWC) and of course Jack has a medal. Good old days indeed. Magic thread mate.
