1923 FA Cup final at Wembley between Bolton and West Ham, the first football match ever played at the new stadium. This was a pitch invasion which occurred out of necessity, with the official attendance 126,047, but the crowd believed to be nearer 300,000 on a truly chaotic afternoon - the interest created by the new stadium meant a number of casual observers turned up on the day. It is a horse, not a player, that has become most famous from this day in the decades since - a white horse named 'Billy' (see the picture below) that was one of a number of horses used to try and clear spectators away from the pitch. It is a match, which Bolton won 2-0, that is still referred to today as 'The White Horse final'
