Don't agree, the commentors went wild in raptures over it, but it was in essence, an average free kick. It was very accurate that's all, low and right in the cormer but nothing more than that. Green must take a big portion of the blame. Why put your weight on your standing leg and to your left, making it nye on impossible to get enough spring to then dive to your right? He lined up his wall well enough, but I still can't fathom out for the life of me why we put small men in the wall. Robert Gren should have enough faith in his wall to stand firm and not move until the ball has been struck, that is the purpose of putting up a wall of players. If ours can't do that properly then there is no point in putting up a wall at all and just have all our players back strung across the goal line. Come to think of it................Fionn Kiely wrote:To be fair to Green it was a very good free kick that most keepers would have struggled to save.

Well - Zola is certainly being tested now.
It's increasingly his team - not the one he inherited.
He's got his Xmas tree or whatever formation it is we play.
He got the assistant manager and fitness team he wanted.
We are more dependent on his tactical nous and motivational qualities than at any time because he has some first team players missing.

Thought I would dig this one out as I recalled greater warmth being shown to our under pressure Manager 6 months ago , and the poll results would support that .
I gave him a 9 at that point in time .
Anyone else looking at their shoes ?
It's a hard job being a football Manager .

I gave him a 6 back in September.
The negatives I perceived are still there, while many positives have evaporated.
It comes down to changing personnel to me.
I always believed that he was very fortunate to inherit Bellamy, Cole, Upson, Parker, Green, Neill, Faubert, LBM, Collins, Etherington, Davenport etc etc - after all, our reserves had finished 10th the year before.
The players that have come in have been too one dimensional and ill suited to our game.
If Zola's reign ends up a failure it will be because of the players signed in his name, and to fit a pattern of play that we simply show little sign of doing successfully no matter how often we try it.

I gave him an 8 at that time, but I'm certainly not looking at my shoes; these things are liquid, and subject to constant change. Of course, there are some who don't agree, and feel that once you've planted your flag on an opinion, you have to stick with it forever, no matter what. These will be the people who gave him a 7, 8 or 9 at the time, feel hypocritical in altering their viewpoint despite his part in our dreadful season so far (and he HAS played a part, hasn't he? I'm not talking about the boardroom upheavals or financial constraints, all of which were unfortunate for GZ, but motivation and tactical nous, the responsibilities for which lie with him), and subsequently delight in screaming "fickle c****!" at everyone else.the pink palermo wrote: I gave him a 9 at that point in time .

I gave him a 7 back then considering what was going on behind the scenes, can I change my vote?!
I did say the football was no better under him than it had been under our two previous managers and I stand by that, actually I'd change that as well, it's worse!

I gave him a 9, I certainly would not give him that now.

It has been poor since the little spell around last Christmas where he found a settled side.
Then that side continued OK after Bellamy left.
Since then.... it's been really terrible.
From a healthy 6 I'd now give him a 3 and sliding.

That organisation has vainished. Maybe Neill was more important on the pitch than Zola/Clarke on the training ground.Chuck D wrote:
The biggest thing for me is that we are very, very structured. When the ball goes out of play, or we lose possession, everyone knows just where they are to get to. Its exactly what Chelsea have done since Jose went there, and Clarke is without doubt a disciple of this approach. Interestingly, watching England, Capello's team do it too.
This season is the big test. Will be interesting to see this thread, and a few others in 6 months time. Like the Cole thread, some people will be right, and some will be wrong.
And of course it is very interesting to see who voted what six months ago.
