those are not the shorts of the kit. The 4 colorways of their shirts are inspired by the 4 "calcio fiorentino" teams, and those are the shorts those teams wear.

Calcio fiorentino is reckoned to be one of the predecessors of football, played since 1530, which looked more or less like an extremely violent rugby, and is still played today during commemoration games.
