Quite! I was giving the club the benefit of the doubt, as the only info I have is what was mentioned in this thread..... But you'd think if he needs extra work, they'd bring him in a bit earlier to do that, so he'd be up to the same speed as the rest of the boys at this point Still, as long as he's fully fit and raring to go by the start of the season, that's all that matters really. Here's hoping he starts off the way he finished last season

I just can't see how that's going to be possible seeing that's he's already missed five out of our nine pre season games. Anyone know if he's even gone to Germany ?

don't know if you looked at the Austria photos on the clubs facebook page Bob but there was one with jack standing at a really odd angle with fans for a photo and his leg wrapped in what looked like a bloodied bandage looking in some discomfort (that kind of uncomfortable smile whereas the lad normally has a full grin for fan photos etc)....so i suspect it's more than a niggle. you do wonder if he needs another op to sort the knee out properly because if he's still suffering two years on that can't be good..... i don't think for one second he's being left out of pre-season through any sort of choice and still think he's our first choice right attacking mid as it stands i'm hoping to see a midfield at some point in the season with diame, collison and nolan in the midfield to see how it works and how we play - think that's the real acid test to see what kind of player he's going to become

I personally think he's not a million miles away from his injuries being too much for him.. Sort of made my mind up earlier this year when i saw him at Lakeside limping pretty badly, then he came on at Bristol City the following night..

Such a shame but I see it to BO. He was a player and I think to this day would have been far superior to Noble already if these injuries didn't keep chipping away at him.

i know what you mean as heard a couple of those accounts tbh, also don't want the lad to do such long term damage that it severely impacts his quality of life when he retires - but then he did play quite a few games in the end last season. knees are funny things and i'm not a medic (at all) but i do wonder if there is another op he may need (perhaps to clear up scar tissue etc) in which case it may be better to take another six months off if it gives a better chance of the longer career...that's obviously not itk or anything - probably a very bad case of 2+2 it's odd, i kind of grew out of having a 'favourite player' about twenty years back but something about collison's character and game just makes me think he'll be one of our key players if he can get past the knee problems somehow

i said it last season Matt but a midfield three of o'neil, collison and nolan would imo have been interesting to see. i love noble but would just like to see whether a centre three without him moves the ball significantly quicker and holds a higher line to shut down the oppo as well as support the front players closer i stil haven't given up hope and now hope to see diame, collison and nolan just out of interest if nothing else

I text to JC earlier: Basically said he should be fine come the start of the season, doing lots of strength work as he was struggling back end of last season, shoulder has just about settled down & he can't wait for the season to start.

But he hasn't played a minute of our Pre Season yet so how can he assume he'll be fine and fit for the start of the season ?

Assumed it was his knee - bit worrying for him to still have problems over two years on Looking forward to seeing jack hopefully progress this season

Both mate. Like I say his shoulder is just about back to normal & he had to have work on his knee before every game last year, so they are still working on strengthing it

Cheers - please pass on best wishes for the season Obviously would have been better if he'd got some minutes pre season but most important thing for him long term is strengthening the knee. Would love to see him nail a centre mid spot for us this season but as a young lad hope even more he goes on to have a long career with his knee sufficiently recovered

I'm sure he does, but let's be real how can he be expected to play a 90 minute game in the Premiership after little or no Pre Season ? For his sake's and more importantly, the team's ?

He can strengthen his knee for a while, pay some games for the stiffs and then come back. I doubt we'll be crying out for him in the first few games of the season..

I totally agree - work on the knee whilst there are no games, bit part appearances from the bench & stiffs to regain fitness. Long term makes sense.
