That's what our lot all think. I can remember taking the piss out Arsenal for doing this and now we are just as bad.
How long till a Saturday round of prem games features not a single Englishman?

It is a sad indictment of the state of English football created by TV money and the Bosman ruling but if they're not good enough then that's the way it is unfortunately.

I don't want to derail the thread, but the complete lack of adequately-qualified coaches also has a lot to do with it (I know the article is six years old but I feel it's still relevant). https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... ge-england

With the latest activity we now have:
8 Argentines
3 Mexicans
2 Austrians

Believe West Ham have now signed more Mexican players than any other Premier League club.

It's all in the OP:

Possible future additions: Martinez (Spain 7th), Zabaleta (Argentina 8th), Arnautovic (Austria 2nd), Hernandez (Mexico 3rd)

3 new players onto the list.

Zabaleta is our 8th Argentine.
Hernandez is our 3rd Mexican
Arnautovic is only our second ever Austrian.

Arthur Masuaku has switched nationality and now going to be our Second Congolese.

Other sports like cricket have quotas. Football is so globalised it cares little for national identity.

Great shame. You have to be an ubelievably gifted English kid to get anywhere close to a regular place unless you get it via promotion. Same goes for managers. Dyche and Howe only got in the prem via promotion.

Manuel da Costa, at the time he played for West Ham he represented Portugal (U23 and call ups for Portugal) before changing to Marocco in 2014 (could also represent France in theory)

There's nothing to stop English kids or managers moving abroad to get first team experience. It's something many should consider.

Is he? I thought Ilic was Montenegrin (although he was only playing at the time when the country was united with Serbia). He certainly now owns some kind of retreat in Montengro.
