Always going to happen, Scottish football died on its arse many moons ago.
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)Had to happen to one of the biggies eventually. Interesting.
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)And, as I've just posted in the finance thread, they have securitised the next 4 seasons ticket income already - just to get some cash in to keep going .
They're doomed . I think we should let Hibs and Motherwell join the PL

Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)I'm so gutted for my smug Rangers ex mate who said they both would finish in the top 4 in the Prem...
And that the top teams would all welcome them (well admittedly they would get more away support that playing at more than half the PL but as no one gets a slice of the away gate any more, who cares ?????)
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)
Couldn't give a flying **** to be honest. They don't give a damn about us so tough titty.
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)Will be interesting to see what happens next. This could be the footballing equivalent of too big to fail - someone is going to step in, the question is who?
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)To be correct, they have filed papers for the intent to go into administration.
Some see it (backed by the club's statement) as a last ditch effort to force HMRC's hand to accept a settlement (if Rangers go into admin they get **** all). Worrying days
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)Pinky, what do you think the likely outcome will be of all this. Will Rangers be liquidated? Will they sell off all assets and start again lower down the leagues? Will a rich man come and save them?
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)
My guess there will be a Mr big sitting in poundland, waiting on the verdict of the tax case, then they'll buy them remember Celtic were an hour away from administration then Ferguson mc cann saved them not that long ago
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)
No, I don't see a rich man coming along , but the real issue is whether HMRC will pursue them post administration for some or all of the £49m .I really am not sure of what , if any options HMRC have . One thing to bear in mind is we can be sure there will be a campaign against HMRC if they attempt to liquidate them, although HMRC will point out they are being fair and treating them the same as Pompey . My bet is they go into admin , cut a deal with HMRC as to what proportion of the £49m they can accept - maybe 20 pence on the £ or some such .Rangers will not be able to exit administration unless a CVA is reached , which given the fact HMRC will be the largest creditor , would need their agreement .Were Rangers to remain in administration at the start of next season there is no way they would be granted a UEFA licence to compete in European competitions, and would also face a points deduction next season as well as this, in domestic competitions . I would be amazed if HMRC pushed for liquidation .The political fallout would be immense .
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)How and why have HMRC let Rangers owe them 49 million?
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)
Haven't they been illegally paying players for 12 years?
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)
Who can push the HMRC in the 'right' direction?
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)Damn, i'll miss the Sky buzz and build up to the 12 old firms derbies every feckin season.
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)So are they just going to let Celtic keep the SPL title for good now?
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)
"And a warm Sky Sport's coverage of the New Firm Derby....Celtic v Partick Thistle"
Re: Rangers in administration (Non WHU)
According to Craig Whyte the Rangers owner, the club don't yet know the full tax amount owing - it could even be as high as £75M !!
